Road Cycling - Bikes using car marques for publicity

I saw two of these today: the Colnago Ferrari, and one I never heard of - the Bianchi Ducati. I had seen the Ferrari last year as well, but it looks to have been updated. The Bianchi was on a stand with a Ducati racing bike, and was pretty nifty. Interestingly, their booths were only about fifteen meters apart.

I chased after a Maserati bike for a while (my original and favorite worship car marque) until I discovered that it was simply a name license, and long after the brothers had sold out. Then there are the BMW and Porsche bikes from the last year or two.

So, have there been any others of note?

The Trek-VW comes to mind.

How about Peugeot, we don't see many of them in North America anymore, but they are all over Europe.

Not cars, but Harley-Davidson and Smith and Wesson now make bikes.

Sears was, and maybe still is selling Jeep bikes!

Audi, Porsche and Mercedes Benz used to have their own brand of bikes....

Once in a while there will be a bunch of Jeep bikes on eBay.
BMW makes a killer skateboard.

Over here in the UK, Kona have a "McRae limited edition" .

Colin McRae is a World Champion Rally Driver which is all well and good,but why the hell Kona pick a world champion from a different sport beats me ?

Theres the Ford Focus- Kona deal, the car comes with a roof rack and the door trim looks like MTB tire tracks.

Wow, what is this focus deali? I've never heard of it before... someone inform, please!!

Not quite cars, but JCB make bikes that weigh almost as much as their earth movers.

There is some history with Colnago/Ferrari. Each year Colnago honors Ferrari with a high-end bicycle. The reason is that Ferrari makes the Carbon bikes for Colnago. Who better in the world to make carbon fiber "parts" (and in this case bicycles and carbon fiber tubing) for you than Ferrari. This is one of the reasons that Colnagos are so expensive - Ferrari has to get the :eek: $100,000,000 :eek: somewhere for Michael Schumachers yearly salary! :eek:

Land Rover in the UK do a Mountain Bike. Costs about £1900 (Almost $3000 USD)

Earlier this year on Ebay I spotted an old John Deere Bicycle, all done up in green & yellow.

I know Puegot has been doing bikes for a long while. From what I understand (and I may be wrong), there is a Puegot Corp., and that the Puegot bike & car companies are different entities under the big Puegot. Kind of like how GM operates.

Hey Ouch!, I saw a thing the WRC coverage here that showed McRae on a motorbike, but I'm like you, why a mountain bike? Guess McRae's tired of coming in outside of the top 5 and needs the money.

The Porsche bikes were an interesting one. I don't remember what kind of bikes they actually were. Amp dualies? And the Focus thing is great, except for the part about having to buy a Focus to get a bike. I don't think Ford does it anymore, as they're spending more on recalling the Focus these days.
