I have a 31.5" inseam. I guess mtb shoes will increase that a touch.

How much standover do I need in a CX bike? My goal is to race next year (during which I fully anticipate falling over repeatedly).

Thanks -

You need enough clearance that you can rock the bike while climbing or sprinting like a lunatic and not have your legs get in the way of the top tube going back and forth. In all my stupid falls and foolishness, only once have I ended up with both feet flat on the ground and the bike in between. That was on a mountain bike. Measure the top tube and go by that.

Ronsonic's post got me thinking, and I can only recall one time in which I smashed my junk off of the top tube. It was due to a loose quick release on my rear wheel. I stood up to sprint after hastily repairing a flat ..... and WHACK!

Luckily, the forces involved in crashing just seem to make it highly unlikely that the top tube will be headed to the same place as your soft and danglies.

..... now the stem on the other hand .....
