Bicycle Mechanics - Which rear shock should I buy for XC? Opinion?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just bought a new frame, a KHS x904r, which came with a rock shox SID race shock installed. I really want a rear shock with lockout (only way I could justify finally giving up the hardtail,) preferably remote lockout. My front fork is the Fox F100x with the terralogic auto lockout valve on it - I wouldn't mind having the matching shock for that even, one that I wouldn't have to lockout but would still be rock solid on flat ground.

I really have no knowledge whatsoever of rear shocks, and mtbr.com doesn't seem to be much help either when it comes to them. Anyone on here have a recommendation? The bike is used for XC racing - I dont need lots of travel, just a high quality racing shock.

Thanks!
