Commuting - Handlebar light mounts for each bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Ok, so I'm not buying but one of these HID lights, all the bikes in my household are going to have to share it. I can deal with that, but what I can't deal with is the time it takes to switch the mount over to the handlebar of the other bikes. I'm also afraid that all the quickly screwing and unscrewing will damage it eventually. These things cost $25 a peice! That's $75 dollars to put them on the three other bikes.

But we've got a helmet mount that came with it just wasting away. What does everyone else do? Universal Mounts? Pay the $25 each? Find something more important to complain about?

Let's start a light mount club and trade the ones we aren't using for ones we'd like to have. I'm sure someone wants my extra Light & Motion helmet mount, and I want to trade it for like 3 handlebar mounts  Ok, I'll settle for one...

I have gone with Planet Bike stuff, the small LED's all share the same mounts, so I can switch them around (I have 3) plus my Planet Bike Alias 15watt Halogen system has an easy to use quick release mount for the light, battery and switch use velcro mounts.

There's a lot to be said for having the light where you're looking.......

I use a Lupine Passubio, it doesn't use mounts. The light has a really strong rubber band that hooks around the handlebars making it easy to switch from one bike to another. The light itself is also the best light I've seen. Both (much) brighter and a wider in focus than a Niterider, better connectors too. I got it from Gretnabikes.

All the Lupine lights use the strong elastic, they fit all bikes. It takes me a few seconds to switch to another bike.

Or use a helmet mount.
