Hello

I originally posted this on the mechanics forum but got no reply’s so I'm turning to you knowledgeable retro folk for an answer. I have a mid 70's campy nuovo record dr which seems to be working fine but I cant figure out what this adjustment screw is for or what it does. I've turned the screw but I don't see any discernable movement. Is it just a stop of some sort? Anyway I'm a little embarrassed because I've been maintaining my own bikes for a few years and consider myself a fair mechanic, but this one has got me stumped.

I think it is just a removable stop for the pulley cage. Its been a while since I looked at mine...

It is removeable, but you shouldn't remove it. It is the derailleur cage preload stop, and its purpose is to keep the spring tensioned when there is no chain to hold it in place.
