I just won an Ebay auction, however the shipping costs exceed the price of the item.

It is new Campy Aero post. All together, the cost is about $53+possible bank transfer fees. Does anyone know what the bank may charge me? I think it may be about $50 more. I hadn't even thought of that before bidding. Anyone had this problem? What do you think that post would go for state-side?

why cant you just pay with paypal to avoid bank transfer fees? And shipping in the US would be probably under 10 bucks.

so? ive sent money via paypal to europe before. My seatpost came from the netherlands, my frame from the UK.

Good to know. I also won a crankset from another seller.
I'll ask the sellers about paypal. Neither posted, pay pal as an option, but I don't think I can afford it any other way.

By the way, did you use the regular Ebay.com site, or specific countries Ebay? e.g. Ebay.fr, Ebay.de etc.

I've heard that Ebay doesn't insure transactions via bank transfer -= that was a method used hard by scammers. -not saying that your seller is a creep, just that there's alot of peace of mind knowing that if you drop $$ and you're scammed, you can get your cash back.

Is your home for the aged in the U.S.? I can't imagine that shipping a seatpost from Europe to the USA can't be much more than $20. Sending a 300 gram parcel via slow boat from the UK to the USA costs about $4.

What kind of security does this offer me? One of the sellers has agreed to go paypal, the other wil not. He suggested cash, and I told him no way. Now he has warmed up to the IMO, but I am creeped out by anyone who would suggest cash. Furthermore, paypal doesn't cost that much any way.
