Hi I'm thinning out one of the parts boxes and need some info on a few parts I have decided to let go. The first are a set of Campy brake levers. If someone can ID them it would be greatly appreciated. They are non areo with gum hoods. The hoods levers and clamps all have the campagnolo sheild with the winged wheel. They came of a near full campy bike with a nuovo grand sport rear derailler but its likely they could be replacements. Also one of the hoods has about a quarter of an inch tear where the lever pivots down (I did it while holding down the lever to lossen clamp). Is this common? Will it hurt value? The second question relates to a Shimano 600 rear derailler. The derallier cage seems to be in a different position that they usually are. If functioned fine on the bike but I just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong. Eventually I'm going to throw these on ebay to finance a set of Campy aero brake levers but wanted to get as much information as possible first.

wow man..
can't tell you anything about the levers but the deraileur..
thats no good.. if the tension spring is placed right this couldn't happen (the stance).
The small cog on the far right on your picture should be right under the derailleur (normally the chain will pull it away against the spring force in). On the other side you should see some hole(s). Can you see the tiny end of the spring there? Looks if the internal spring has free room to move how it wants

I tightened up the spring and it sits a little better now but still dosent feel quite right can these springs wear out.

I am pretty sure the brake levers are Gran Sport. I can tell you for sure that they are not Nuovo Record (logo) or Super Record (drilling), at least mid seventies ones.
yes, they are later (80's) gran sport (shield logo). Earlier had the vertical word Campagnolo without an outer edge and world logo hoods. Yes, the tear will considerably reduce the value of the set; I don't think I have ever seen a successful repair to this type of hood. Yes, the derailleur spring is honked up. May be worn out (probably not), may be improperly reassembled (probably). The cage needs about a half-twist on the spring before tightening, so that the cage stop will spring back against the body of the derailleur.

Springs can wear out, but it is more likely it has slipped inside the pivot. If you are feeling bold enough, try taking the pivot apart and check spring positioning. It should catch at both ends in order to provide the tension needed.

The derailler is fixed it was improperly assembled by the guy I bought it from. Also I feel really stupid about that tear they were mint until I screwed them up removing them. I will definately be more careful next time. I dont see how it happened though all I did was depress the lever all the way. It appears that when the lever is pressed down the rubber is forced to bend and thats how it ripped not the greatest design. And as if I didnt feel stupid enough I get on ebay and see a set of these exact hoods sold for $75 with a few more in the 50-70 range.

It looks like yours now you nailed the problem when you said it needed a half turn on the tension spring
