I just had surgery on my knee for a ligament tear below the kneecap. My doc has been very vague about when i can expect to get back to cyling. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any suggestions on how to ease my way back in? Has anyone had this type of surgery and has it limited thier ability to continue cycling? I am very worried this will affect my ability to cycle--i just really got into it 2 yrs ago and it would be a shame if i couldnt continue with my favorite hobby/form of exercise.

"Let pain be your guide" is the advice I got following surgery. If it hurts ease up or stop, if it doesn't carry on. Just spin easy gears for 4-6 weeks and you should be safe; provided you can walk on it already.

However, I would really press that doc to talk about rehab time frames.

Good luck.. soon this will just be a memory as you fly down the road.

I would see a good physical therapist whether you cycle or not. Post op they are generally more trained and knowledgeable than the surgeons. I've had 2 scopes (one on each knee) and a torn MCL about 3 years ago. The PT always got me back quickly and stronger than before.
