i'm contemplating buying a full dura track groupset, as the thread title suggests. as i'm a sucker for classic components, does anyone have any idea where to get a NOS set?
also any thoughts with regards to this (new or NOS) as an option? is there anything i should be taking into consideration when thinking about these components.
this will be for a bike that will be used primarily for training and racing, but also for some running around the place too.
any input, thoughts, links etc mch appreciated
cheers
eddie

what series?
7600? the old 7400 Ex stuff?
by "group" you really just mean cranks/ring + hubs. Maybe headset.
the 7600 hubs are still relatively widely available (unless you've got keirin spacing goingon). 7600 cranks show up on ebay all the time. And i've got a headset that I'd be willing to trade for a comparable sealed unit (but that's for another thread)
if you wanted 10-pitch, you just missed out on the ebay deal of the century.

cranks ring cog hubs bb seatpost
i like 7600 a lot, so ideally that.
i have steel dura headset right now and love it. that'll probably go onto the new bike.

If you have a friend in Japan who speaks Japanese, you should try here (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww14.big.or.jp%2F%7Enumber-2%2FNo.1_DuraAceTrack.html&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools). Prices on NJS components that'll make an otaku heart weep.

RE: Ebay 10 Pitch Auction
Stupid style question:
Why does the crank spider and chainring clash so badly?
Is it just a bad photograph?
You'd think being made by the same manufacturer and being part of the same group that they'd match.

ben's, businesscycles, my LBS... all still have 7600 hubs.
the cogs made now are still 7600. they haven't changed.
cranks/rings/BB might be the hard part. worldclass might have them lying around.

7600 series are still being made. at least hubs for sure. they stopped making them once, but their new low flange 7710 hubs were so unpopular with pros they had to start making 7600 again. And shimano is now the only njs hub manufacturer, so they will continue to make thoes till they come up with something new. but their export price is a total rip off.

this is a little OT, but what's the big deal about 10-pitch? I mean, I understand the hip points of having a totally proprietary and no longer manufactered system, and the whole weight thing, but really, what's all the commotion about?

If anyone wants a DA 10-pitch gruppo, PM me. If I win this Merckx, I'd want to swap it out.

yes, this is the only way to go i have found out. cranks and bb are
both a problem. business cycles has the hubs and sometimes there
are also seat posts on ebay. but the cranks aren't to be found in
the u.s., even at world class ...but in japan you can get everything
from the online shops, except bb and chainrings.
