Hey folks,
I'm disassambling a bottom bracket bearing/shaft assy. for the first time, the threaded kind with removable crank arms, not the one piece crank.
Sitting on the bike, the left side unscrewed normally, left-loosen. But the bearing cup (name?) on the right side is really tight. Which way does it unscrew?

it should unscrew lefthand . what kind of bike ,how old , and steel cup /alum frame? you may also need to warm it up. I have a small butane torch that i use but a propane torch can used with care to free it up.I have had one that would not budge and just left it in and serviced from the left side.

Wolfy, thanks! Great tips.
Part of this is for the experience and the other part (main goal) is to use the whole assy. in another bike.

Oops, sorry, it appears to be a very old bike, a girl's ten-speed, steel frame, steel bearing cup. I have to get one of those two-pronged spanner wrenches I guess. I beat on it pretty hard and think I budged it almost 1/2" (left-loosen). But it's friggin' tight. I soaked it with oil last night. Will give another go soon. Just wanted to make sure I was turning it in the correct direction.

Italian BBs are threaded different to English - the LH side has a RH-thread (both Italian & English), but the RH (chain-wheel) side is RH-thread (Italian) and LH-thread (English)…

Thanks for opining you guys. It turned out to be, Left side = normal, ccw left-loosen, Right side = odd, cw right-loosen, go figure. It doesn't look Chinese, it looks like it was a nice bike in it's time. I took everything off it and tossed the frame. I need the crankshaft (name) for my Labent by Ladue that'll be here soon. I still have to find another crankshaft too, it's got two.
