Classic & Vintage - Bent brake part, any hope?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I hope these pics come through...
I am working on the traveler's brakes and the front one has a bent part (see picture). What do you guys think? I can try to straighten it. Any hope of a replacement? if yes, where? I can, of course, add new brakes to the list and that may be easiest.
Thanks,
KDB
The part is steel and can be straightened. The question that you have to ask yourself is: "Has this been done before?" As it is a front - a failure could have some serious repercussions. If you are doing a spot-on resto, then you may want to salvage the original part, otherwise, look for a good, new, Taiwan replacement on eBay. They are going for less than $20 if you watch.

I have a set of calipers off a schwinn I'm not using. If it should come to that let me know and we can work something out.

Take it to a good machinist - he should be able to straighten it for you.

I've got a pile of old Weinmann centerpulls. I'll be glad to send you a set for the price of postage if they'll help you.

Can't you use any other old brake as a donor for the axis?

Ken,
I can have a set of replacement "Schwinn Approved" Dia Comps you can have. Save the spacers which contact the fork crown.

I have a pretty good stash of Weinmann and DiaCompe centerpulls and sidepulls. PM me if you need a small replacement part.
