This is a true story that just happened to my brother-in-law; I found out 5 minutes before writing this post.
My brother-in-law was driving when he suffered an epileptic seizure (he is on medication for epilepsy). His body unable to control itself, his foot jammed the accelerator to the floor and would not release. He reached a speed of about 100 mph. before going off the road into a cornfield. His car overturned.
Somehow, someone had followed him during this incident. This same person pulled Tommy from his car. Almost immediately after this, the car expoded.
Tommy is O.K. with some bruises only.

Wow...Your borther in law is a very lucky person indeed. His guardian Angel was definitely looking after him.
I'm glad to hear his alright.
Good to read something like this--it helps balance out the depressing headlines.
The driver that rescued Tommy ought to get some kind of reward....

I'll bet he's experiencing that reward right now.

I've read that each of us has a THOUSAND guardian angels. I wonder how they chose which one would rescue Tommy.
Although I'm existentialist in philosophy (like Thomas Merton...the famous 20th Century monk), I do believe that our days are numbered. It just wasn't the day for Tommy to go. IF YOU know someone who wasn't saved right before the car exploded, or whatever happened, the reason was NOT because that person didn't have a thousand angels watching over them. It was just that persons day to receive their gift.

Yes it is. Why do you ask?
I really very stongly into Angels and Spirits and stuff,
I'm currently doing contact/crystal healing with a group of folks that have been doing it for years...
One thing that came to mind when I read the Thread Title, was during my first race for quite a while which took place last year..
I was on the second to final lap of this race, and the mother of all steep hills was ahead of me...I grinded up it slowly, feeling very down, and wanting to give up when I heard in my mind a little voice telling me to carry on, I was doing alright...just keep going, so I did, got up the hill, big grin on my face...
I flatted about half way into the final lap, but there you go...wasn't my day...still, that moment felt very special...I wasn't alone..they were with me...
Anyone else had that out there???
Rich
p.s. Glad to hear your brother in law is ok Pete :D...send him our regards and best wishes

Thanks, Rich! I'll keep you guys updated.
Regarding your "steep hill," I had a similar experience. I was having a super-grumbly morning. I just wanted to
say to h*** with it, you know? But I had a scheduled committment to keep, and I pressed on.
As I was walking, a gentle, but strong thought came to me: "It's a beautiful day." It seemed as though the thought came from someone else, as my mind was somewhere else entirely (like in the dumps). Funny thing was, I started grumbling and arguing with the thought. I sensed I might not be helping myself.
Suddenly, a dear older friend of mine appeared (I guess I hadn't noticed him approaching). He gently reached out his hand. "It's a beautiful day," he said encouragingly. With that, he turned and left me.

Hey Pete...How is Tommy holding up?

Carlos...Hi, mate!
Tommy has some pain in the neck and bruises, but is o.k....no broken bones, spine o.k.
I got a small correction on the accident. His car did not overturn. When it went off into the cornfield it got mired somehow. Since Tommy was still accelerating,
he started spinning in little circles until he dug himself completely into the mud. Apparently, this stopped him from moving, but the wheels were still spinning fast in the mud. This, or some other friction or heat of some kind, is what may have ignited the fuel tank.
So far, my mother-in-law has not been able to discover who this amazing rescuer was.
Did he leave behind any feathers?

Actually, Oscar, we just found out who this "angel" was.
Tommy's son, Stephen, was in school when his schoolmates were talking about Shannon Road being closed off because of a terrible wreck. That's when a good friend of Stephen said that his dad had pulled the man out of the car.
So, mystery solved, the "angel" was Tommy's son's friend's Dad!
One more update to the story. Tommy's seizure did not happen because he forgot to take his medication. The doctors told him it was because he had been taking
"Metabolife," that herbal over-the-counter weight loss
drug. The Metabolife cancelled out the effect of Tommy's medication.

You get what you need at the moment you need it.
My sister was in a car accident a few years ago. She was in the back seat, unrestrained, and the car was tumbling down the road, 4 or 5 times. She said a thought went through her mind that she was about to die. At that moment she felt two hands hold her shoulders down so she stayed in the seat. She heard a voice in her ear, felt the breath, say "Don't be afraid, it's not your time to die."
She had a broken pelvis and some bruises but she's still with us.
I don't claim to understand, maybe we aren't supposed to. But that is the definition of FAITH.
I've had some very strange things happen to me, too, so I'm not about to knock any such tales! There is a lot more to life than we usually give thought to...
Reminds me of a story on Unsolved Mysteries one time: a woman was walking across a street when a car she didn't see bore down on her. Instantly she saw a glowing "human" figure rush toward her and knock her backwards, out of the way of the car. She ended up with only bruises. She was convinced an angel had saved her, and I swear this woman seemed completely rational, emotionally normal, and utterly credible in her telling of the story. I believe her, even though I might not use the term "angel" myself. Something very special happened to her.
