Bicycle Mechanics - FC-1051 compatible with Ultegra 6500?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Wanting to upgrade a Cannondale roadbike with old 105 drivetrain with new piece-meal Ultegra parts. Bike previously had 7-speeds and FC-1051 cranks (52/42 Biopace chainrings). Can I keep the old crank/chainrings and install new Ultegra rear components (9-speed CS-6500 cassette, RD-6500 derailleur, SL-BS77 shifter)?
Thanks for advice!

Yup. If you weren't already aware, that 9-speed cassette won't go on your old hub unless you replace the freehub body. See http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/k7.html#bodies
