Bicycle Mechanics - loose headset

i recently put a new fork and chris king headset on my bike. and after my first hard ride with those components, the headset is loose. how did that happen? i thought chris kings werent supposed to do that? how do i tighten it?

Chris King doesn't guarantee its headsets won't come loose...especially if improperly installed in the first place.

It's possible the crown race wasn't seated completely during the installation and your first ride pounded it down the rest of the way.

You put a new fork and headset on your bike and you're just now asking how to tighten it? Did you put the fork/headset on or did the LBS? If LBS ........ take it back to them. If you did the work, continue reading. Hillrider is spot on, crown race likely wasn't seated all the way down. Loosen the top cap, loosen the stem, tighten properly (see parktool.com regarding this procedure) and you're good to go. Shouldn't loosen again.

Threadless or threaded? There are several sources LBS where you bought the CK headset, or a good wrenching instruction book like Bicycling's Complete Guide..., or Lenard Zinn's Zinn and the Art of.... Both good investment if you are planning to do your own wrench jockeying.
