Well..Yesterday my 2k hkek quit working, The crank set just wouldn't budge. So I took it to the shop and left it overnight, So today I walked up there and unfortunatly my bottom bracket was stripped out completely..They dont know how it happened, They think its a bad frame. They said their going to ship it to Fisher tomorrow or Monday and then Fisher will evaluate it and decide whether or not to try to fix it or just give me a new frame, Most likely they'll give me a new frame is what the guy told me..I know thats good and all but I really did love my 2k koo ya know? A 2001 koo frame just wont hold the same place in my heart.. *sigh* Oh well..Maybe they can fix it or something..I doubt it. I just got the bike a month ago and I really just loved how it looked alot :( So now I wont have a bike for like 3 weeks..Which sucks cause I rode my bike multiple times everyday. Anyhow, Thats what happened.. :(
Sorry to hear that. I've been down the road of waiting for a manufacturer to do warrenty replacements (frame, shocks) and I have to say it is a hassle. One thing you must do is be persistent w/ the shop. They have a lot going on and dealing w/ warrenty replacements (where they don't make any money) is generally low on their list. So, follow up about once a week. Don't be a pest, but don't let them forget.
I guess you'll be hanging our here a good bit for the next 3 weeks.
You might search yard sales or the thrift store for a cheap bike just to get some riding in.

Sorry to hear about the Frame. Hopefully you won't have too many hassles getting your new frame. Maybe a friend can let you borrow a bike, or like Rider mentioned, find a cheap bike to buy so you can get some riding time in.
My bike is going in to the shop also this weekend. I have a blown Seal so the front fork is leaking air. Luckily I have my Old bike which coincidentally also happens to be a HooKoo E Koo. It's a 96 from when they were still made from steel.
Good luck with your new frame.

Well here's an update! I called the bike store yesterday because they had called me..They told me that Fisher is sending me a Big Sur frame back which is pretty cool, Although there is no real diffrence..Its ok with me. I should have it next weekend they said..But I do have one problem! My hkek fork is yellow and the Big sur is blue and silver..This will look awful with it! Could I possibly sand off the paint on my fork or do you think I could exchange it with some other fork? BTW, The fork I have is a Judy XC. Well any info is appreciated.

Thats great news, glad you getting a bike back. :) As for the color, are you crazy?! Yellow goes with anything! And honestly, do you ride to look cool, or do you ride to enjoy it? You may want to read up on this (http://216.215.238.193/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1773) thread.
Well I'm glad everything is turning out well for you. Yellow rocks, don't strip it.

Well I ride to enjoy it, But if you can look good while enjoying riding then you cant beat it. Ill just have to see what it looks like when I get it back :)
I don't know why shocks aren't made in neutral colors any more. Lotsa bikes ride around the trail, and the first thing you notice is the fork.
I guess I answered my own question.

Servus!
Careful with that fork re-paint! I recommend going to a shop that has painted suspension forks before. I've seen guys who had the forks repainted by auto body shops and the results were disaterous. The shop used a sand blaster to remove all of the old paint and wore down the tolerances of the fork just enough to mess it all up. Paint looked great though.... Make sure that your paint shop does a chem strip on the forks and then make sure that EVERY possible washer, o-ring, and mechanical bit is removed from the fork tubes prior to this process! I recommend having it powder-coated for durability. Don't forget, once you repaint it, the warranty on the fork is instantly void.

Hey WooDeeDo, I just noticed you're in St.Pete. I'm down in Sarasota. When are you supposed to get your new frame? Do you have another bike to ride? I'm thinking of heading over to Lakeland on Sunday. If you get your bike or another ride, you should meet me over there. If you get a chance, log onto www.clubmtb.com and seach your way around to USA, FL and then S.O.R.C.E. It's a group I started to get together for rides around the state. Check it out and sign up.
BTW, I warrantied my GF Z1 a couple of years ago and it took nearly 3 months to get my frame and everything I needed to put it back together. (Mounting Hardware for the shock was all different and took forever to get the right parts) Hope you have better luck with your frame.

Well, I should have gotten my bike back yesterday but the store said they had ordered me a better bottom bracket and crank set and they were still waiting on those two things..So I wont get it back till Tuesday :( I do have an extra bike but its not at all trail worthy. Im not sure what im going to do..I am thinking about selling the big sur and buying a Trek 8000..The 8k would be a better bike to upgrade..Although the alpha aluminum is based on 6061 aluminum and it has the same geometry, I like it better. So thats what I think Ill do, What do you people think of that? What would be a good price? 800? It would be a brand new frame and the components on it are only a month old..Barely used..No scratches.

Hey WooDeeDoo,
Glad to hear you got your frame back, sorry to hear you hate the color combo. I may be able to help you out. My brother-in-law has a Marzocchi Z-2 that he used once or twice and then sold his bike with the original fork. He may be interested in selling it. Since I'm down in Sarasota, maybe next time I go to Lakeland or Morris Bridge, we can hook up and you can take a look at it. It's RED, so I don't know if it'll match either, but with the blue it may look great. It's the darker red (say blood red), not the powder coated bright red.
If you're interested, let me know and I'll find out how much he wants for it.
