Introductions - bike across USA from north to south

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello out there from Missouri-I am interested in trying to bike from British Columbia to Mexico essentially following US HIghways 93/95 routes. This would cross parts of Montana, Idaho, Nevada, California and Arizona. Has anyone done all or parts of these routes or is interested in such a trip? Or if you know of anyone who has done this, I would greatly appreciate in hearing from them for some tips. I am especially interested in the safety aspect of these two routes, ie: shoulder widths, traffic, etc. I plan to leave Canada the 1st week of August 06. Thanks! francisduckworth@aol.com

I've bike toured in parts of Utah and Nevada as well as desert parts of Colorado and California. 93/95 would have long stretches with no water or services. About like a friend who nearly died going west to east on HWY 50 across Nevada (AKA the lonliest highway in the world). Consider switching to going down the Pacific Coast or down the ridge of the Rockies. If you use the coastal route drop me a note. Maybe we can meet and ride together part of the way.
