I have a 1973 Schwinn Speedster, 17" Camelback frame. I would like to add a 3 piece crank to it.

A loose ball-bearing adapter will work, but I want a sealed cartridge.

Will a BMX bottom bracket work? Any suggested models? Any other ideas?

I am rebuilding this as a knock-about/garage-sale hopper. It seems I can fit 700x27 rims, with 35mm tires inside the stays.

Thanks in advance for your help

Looks like they have a sealed cartridge replacement bb of sorts or an adapter that allows you to use any standard 73 mm bb.

Give Harris Cyclery a call. They can advise which one might work best for you. 617-244-9772
