Hello

I am in my early 50's and started getting back into serious mileage this year preparing for the MS Challenge Ride in this area of Manitoba. I have owned a Concorde racer with Edco Competition group since about '84. I loved the feel of the sew up tires, but never mastered the fixing of flats, and the habit of having to take 2 tires with me to insure getting home on a long ride. I switched to clinchers and started doing serious mileage. From the WrenchScience site I re-configured my bike layout, discovering that my torso is actually too long for the total reach of stem plus top tube. I compensated by moving the seat all the way back and still think the knee is centered over the peddle axel.
I switched to a split leather seat by specialized and am now in the hunt for a longer one-inch stem.
In '79 I cycled to Mexico with a buddy and camped all the way to Yucatan. I cycled home solo from Dallas to San Diego and then up.
There was not one cyclist going East to West, all were using their heads and following the prevailing winds, but it was a great trip.
Love the sport of cycling, but cannot get my wife into the idea of tandeming. Need help!

Welcome to BikeForums from another 50 something member.

Can't get my wife to ride either. She says she will give it a try someday.
Can't complain though because she is my #1 supporter. :)
