Road Cycling - Need Advice: Giant OCR 3 Road Bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi, can anyone with a Giant OCR 3 tell me of the pros/cons with that bike. And would it compare with a Specialized Sirrus?
Thanks

The OCR3 is a regular road bike with a drop type bar. The Sirrus is something of a hybrid. It is a road frame but with a straight bar. Both are decent quality economically priced bikes. I believe they are both equipped with Shimano Sora components, the low end Shimano's component models. Either would make a decent starter bike, but if you are thinking of getting in group rides with roadies, go with the OCR3 and its drop bar.

I was in the same position as you a few weeks ago when looking to buy my bike. If you want something new that is entry level and don't mind sora gear there is a lot to choose from, check out KHS, Felt, Jamis to name a few. have a ride on the bike and see which feel the best. Another option you could go for is a second hand bike. This way you will get much more bike for your money and might not feel the need to shell out even more on upgrades when you get the road bug. So have a good look around ride some bikes and enjoy your purchase.

I don't have any experience with Specialized, but I've had an OCR3 for about 2 months now. It's a good ride, gears change smoothly and the seat is actually pretty comfortable. I can keep up with the others I ride with and have done my first 50 mile ride with out any problems.
