according to ESPN.com the times for the high lights are 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. (eastern) http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tvlistings/schedule?date=20060220&network=02&sport=all . is this right?!?!?!

TIVO is the way to go for this event. if they are putting it on at that time the must feel like there is no market for it?? later.

That's the time I've seen. 10-11PM for West Coasters.

ESPN sucks! They put all kinds of other crap on during the day yet this gets a "middle of the night" slot. Luckily I have a DVR...

Being on the west coast that time slot makes me happy, most of the time I am home by 10pm and will actually get a chance to watch some of it.

stage 2 highlights the next day are 2-3am. After that, there's no coverage at all.

I show coverage for every stage, all at 1am-2am, except for as you mentioned stage 2 which is 2am-3am.

Any idea if a web cast is available for this event, ESPN or other?

Well, given that they haven't had bike racing on ESPN since, what, maybe the Tour DuPont, I won't complain much and I'll definately watch. God forbid freakin' OLN broadcast anything but the Tour.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an East Coaster and the time is going to suck for me, but it also makes sense. It gives ESPN a few hours to get their race footage edited into something coherent and tape the show, and still get it on the same day. Well, for us in the east, it will be early...very early...the next day. The race is in California; I expect ESPN thinks the biggest interest will be in California, and they're managing to get everything ready by late prime time. I think they're doing pretty well.

For the Tour de France, the time difference was working nicely for OLN's highlight show, but sometimes the folks in California were having to tune in at 3:30am to watch the start of the live coverage. This must be their reward and our turn to take the bad time slot.

OLN broadcasts a lot more than just the tour.

OLN broadcasts a lot more than just the tour.

Today on OLN:
Survivor Marathon

Tomorrow on OLN:
Roger's Hunting Adventures
Benelli's Dream Hunts
Expedition Safari
(repeat ad nauseum)

Don't get me wrong, I really do appreciate OLN's Tour coverage, but I'm just not down for their other programming...and I haven't seen any other bike racing in a while.

OLN broadcasts a lot more than just the tour.

Their non-Tour race coverage is going the same direction that SpeedTV's World Rally coverage was going- from less to nada. Last season was a joke for OLN compared to even the year before. They give us a smattering of coverage of the classics and a handful of domestic races, and do a couple of highlights shows of the Vuelta and Giro. Give 'em another year or two with no American dominating the Tour and they won't show **** for bike racing.

1 hour of highlights? Throw in commercials and some stupid announcer that doesn't know jack and it's going to suck.

You are bumming me out. I need a TIVO anyway.
