Just joined the forum. Been MTB riding since 1987. Hate to upgrade or buy into any new marketing hype. Still riding toe clips and thumb shifters along with a Mag21. Looking forward to learning from the forum here and also contributing when I can.

There's nothing wrong with old-school. I'm sure you could give us all a lesson on older equipment. I happen to like toe-clips...

Welcome to the Forums,

Okay, I'll bite:

How old?

How fat?

And you are sure you are a guy?

I have the right to ask, being a senior and just a FEW pounds over the suggested weight, and I am sure I am a guy.

Anyway, welcome.

Not very old (35), not too fat (205 lbs, 5'9"). Went on a low carb diet a few months ago and lost about 30 lbs. Feel better now than I have in years. Only problem with the low carb diet is that I don't have the short term sprint power anymore. Still have the endurance though. And yep, I am guy.

Well, you are definitely not old. We have folks here who at 70 and 63 yo (me) sort of think they are YOUNG.

So, I make a formal demand. If you are classified as "old" at 35, what in the world does that make us who are in our 60's. Therefore, you must change your name to "Youngfatguy" so we don't feel so old in comparison to you.

As far as the "fat" goes, I will leave that to your judgment.

And, I will take your word for the "guy" part.

So, how about it "YoungFatGuy" - so others will feel better?

How about Ol'PhatGuy? Seriously, I don't mean to offend anyone old or young, fat or skinny, short or tall. Remember, you're only as old as you act.

Old? Fat? That's me. Course I'm not as old as DnvrFox (are you really 63??), but I'm catching up fast. :D I'll be 58 ( :crash: ) next month.

Seriously, a BIG BikeForums welcome.

Like you said, there are no old people here. Cycling keeps us young!

You hyaven't offended anyone, and this is all good clean fun.

I do have a concern with folks who are only 35 even beginning to think of themselves as "old." I guess it is just a matter of perspective.

Anyway, WELCOME

ANd, RonH -

I lied. My 63rd birthday will be November 7, 3 days away. When I sold insurance, we always rounded to the nearest birthday, and I find myself continuing that practice.

I believe Vlad is 70 or so, and I don'r know who else is a "senior" in this group.

70!!.. that is so great.

.. about half of the men(guys) in the club i ride with.. are over 50 and i know some are retired.. they are really good. Eon D'ornella, whos lbs we ride out of and a national/olympic champion is ageless... i still haven't figured out just where he places, but going on a ride with him is grueling(and he says its a easy day..yeah right)
most of the women... its about 70m/30f ... range in age from 16 to about retirement age. and 99% of them are soooooo helpful.
