Foo - I don't get it.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

A guy posted on Craigslist his stolen bike. Look KG 281 road bike - carbon fiber, full campy, Chris King, Mavics, Look carbon seatpost, ITM Super Italian Pro bars. He saw the guy leave with the bike, and gave a small description of him. $500 reward. Why wouldn't someone hop in the car and chase the guy? He lives in an area where the homes are $1.5 million or more. Surely he must have a car....
What would YOU do if you saw someone taking your bike...car or no car?
Well I would say "I would chase after them with a base ball bat in rage and beat the living hell out of him and his family"
but in reality I would "just stand there crying with my cell phone dialing 911"
In real reality "I would just be crying"

Does the guy taking my bike look like he can kick my ass? How 'bout we play, "Maybe what happened was..." I'll start.
Maybe what happened was he saw his expensive bike walking off with a bigger, better rider, shat his pants, then stood there confused as to whether he should run after the guy w/ poo dripping down his leg or run to the nearest bathroom to preserve what was left of his dignity. Then he decided he still wanted his bike back even if the bike was being ridden the hell out of by a macho stud biker w/ carbon fiber bone transplants.

I'd turn to my wife and say, "Now can I get a new bike?"

I hope that I'd do what I could to stop him, even at the risk of damaging the bike. Having never been in that situation, it's hard to say for sure.

I'd buy another bike. If my house was worth 1.5 million, I'd only cry if the bike had any sentimental value. I'd buy an ever nicer bike, but find a way to install a GPS locator on the new one.

I would be more than miffed.
This is why I don't own a gun.

I'd probably spend at least a few minutes kicking myself for leaving my garage open.

$500 is a pretty nice reward. If I lived in the Bay Area, I'd try out my bounty hunter skills and find the bike, myself.
