Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Syntace Bullhorns + Keirin Rubber Grips?

Does anyone have any experience with using Syntace bullhorn-type bars with some keirin style rubber grips?
I'm looking for something that will be long enough to run from the tips to the stem (allllll the way round the bar) and wondering what should I buy or what combinations work best, etc:....

Just plain Keirin grips won't make it all the way from tips to stem, especially if the bullhorns aren't chopped. Chop the ends off of the horns, though, and get two sets of grips (one with the closed ends cut off) and you'll be in business.

i have soyo long grips on my syntace. they are super grippy and don't move at all.

if you want them to go all the way from end to stem, Fugazi Dave's suggestion of using 2 grips per side sounds like it should work out.

i forget if the soyo long grips come in different thicknesses, but i think thinner is better to navigate the bend better.

Nicely done. When I was using these that's pretty much the area I was using most, plus it covers up the cable hole/routing channel part.

Uh... Looks like there are no plugs on your bars. I guess you could drill some holes in them so you can play little melodies as you ride.

they are plugged - the syntaces come pre-plugged.

the extra whistling comes from the holes on the bottom side near the end, which are not covered by the grips.

You could try some rubber tubing from a hardware store...

actually doesn't bother me too much.

What stem are you using with your syntace's? Did you have a hard time getting around the second bend?

the stem is a no-name that i picked up at Refried Cycles. i'm pretty sure it was a 25.4 clamp diameter, and the stupid bars are 26.0.

it took a lot of grease to get it around the 2nd bend. and a LOT of wrenching and grease to get it into the proper spot.

as far as i can tell, i didn't deform or structurally mess up the bars. and if i'm wrong, i will most likely deform or structurally mess up my face.

spike i have a couple of nice SR 80mm stems if you are looking for one.
