I'm thinking of participating in a couple of duathlon events (my swimming is really weak) this season. I want to pick up a set of clip on bars to use on my road bike. I have these models in mind:

Profile Design Jammer GT
Profile Design Jammer CGT
Oval Slam TT
Syntace C2

Can you give me the advantages/disadvantages of any of the above models? Are they generally easy to remove/install?

i used to use Oval slam bars on a road bike. The supposed advantage of the slam bars is that they are designed specifically for allowing a position that is both reasonably comfrotable and reasonably aero on a road bike. Given the nature of road bike geometry, you usually would want to use a shorter stem with aerobars on a road bike to get the best fit. The slam bars take this into account and position the pads of the aerobars farther back, with less forward extension, without going to a shorter stem.

I put the Profile Design Airstrikes on my road bike last season. They aren't the lightest, but they're very adjustable. I also like the fact that the elbow pads swing up to allow you to use the whole handlebar. Unfortunately, this makes them a little rattley. But I find that easy to ignore.

The C2s are nice, that's what I use. One neat thing about them is you can buy accessories for them, like lifters, so you can dial in the height you want them at.

Profile also sells lifters... I have syntaces and profiles; they both work fine.
