Yay!!!!! Well, sorta....how did you go about doing that?

I always find explaining to people why I'm missing various bits of skin for a week quite enjoyable.

oh man, that's the worst. back in the day i was riding BMX and we decided to go get some coffee at this 24hr cafe... it was around 3am. so i take off sprinting, bunny hop up a curb and i'm about to cut through this parking lot when BAM! i hit a chain hanging about 3 ft off the ground. it hit right at the handle bars, crushing my fingers, and i go flying over the bars, my shoe flies off and sails through the air, and i come down right on my cheek, then the bike flips over and lands on the back of my head. miraculously, i get up unscathed aside from two purple fingernails and a stiff neck. my friends were crying laughing after making sure i was ok. if only there had been a camera, i know i could have won america's funniest home videos

sorry for your fall sweetie!!
I had an accident two summers ago, went over the handlebars and landed on my face. I busted my top lip (lucky I didn't hit my teeth!!) and had road rash down my left arm, hip, and leg. and it happened two days before starting a new job. try explaining that ***** on day 1!

Hope you're feeling better soon. doesn't look like you got too many flex areas, which is good. you're still mobile.

Ouch.. I did a similar thing to my nose last year around this time. Drank far too much and faceplanted, twice. Ended up breaking my nose and happened to be drunk enough to pop it back into place.

That was gross.

Anyway, hope you're feeling better.

I made a statement like that once. I said: "Aw I never get hurt bad". It was about 10 minutes before my most spectacular sledding accident ever. The one that had me limping for a month. with a bruise the size of a football on my leftt hip. Your crash free days are numbered my friend.

I just had surgery tuesday for an accident i had this past summer.
I had my nose reset and un-deviated...or would that be dedeviated?
I too had rocks in my nose. They were removed. My lip was fixed.
I have a bunch of stitches and splints in my nose.
I'm really doped right now. No work for a week.

I hate threads like this because I know my days of not having a bad crash are numbered. Id just rather not have an auto involved with it.

Crashes definitely suck, but I am always proud of the scars and such. I know it sounds dopily macho, but, like for example, I tore my shoulder out of the socket back in the 90's on a MTB, and everytime I raise my arm a certain way, it pops and i am suddenly overwhelmed with pride for a short duration. Weird?
(BTW, welcome to the forums, LeWhiteRabbit. I like your positive attitude.)

if i had a host for it, i'd post the video of my former boss dropping a wheel on my head last year. 4 staples in my head and what felt a lot like a mild concussion left me wonky for at least a week after.

the video is great by the way. i'm sitting on the floor holding the back of my head and everyone else is walking around, stepping over me going about their business.

humancongereel
01-26-06, 08:07 PM
dropping...wheel...?

anyway, mr. pistoferson, i get the same thing every time i refer to my chipped tooth and tell how i turned half my face into a road rash and chipped my tooth on the hawthorne bridge here.

lewhite's in pain (her nose is really sensitive right now) and naturally unhappy about it..anyway, i hope for a swift recovery...the telling stories and showing off scars part of it may be fun later, but having the injury, especially facial ones, really sucks. i hate walking around with hamburger looking patches on my face.

and visitordesign--i see it, i really do.

In the last 6 months I've only been able to ride for two. I hate it. Crashing bites, but I like riding too much to care.

Did LWR crash on trolley or max tracks? I'm just guessing it was the trolly (cause they're more in the street), I've gotten caught in one of those but I slammed on my brakes rather than trying to hop out (worst instinct ever, trying to hop out).

max, and in nopo. i'm not sure how, either. i was ahead of her and just heard her yell "****!" and saw her laying on the ground. not sure how her wheel got caught, but that's the best either of us has been able to come up with yet.

i've only had problems with those tracks when i fall in. granted, i didn't ride skinny tires when that happened, but still, i nearly endoed once when my front tire went into a trolley track in front of the library downtown at pretty decent speed. trying to get out of the tracks hasn't been a problem for me...i'm usually lying on the ground as soon as i fall into them.

i have crashed with no serious injury 3 times in the past 6 months.

First time i slipped in a mud pit disguised as a little puddle. landed top of the head first. cracked my giro eclipse in half... no other injury.

second. ran off road by fraternity boys. laughs had by all but me. permanent road burn on left arm. not too bad. license plate remembered and justice had.

third. after the university of oklahoma bomb scare earlier this year where that kid blew himself up outside the stadium chaos ensued. while WALKING BIKE through dense crowd was pushed down bike on top and somewhat trampled haha. no marks but a beaten pride. I have vivid images of a nine year old girl using rear spokes as bridge to her parents.

I jokingly asked my LBS if they knew anyone who wrecked as often as me. They said it just means i ride hard. i snickered... none of my accidents have to do with riding hard.

Nice photos and heal up.

Gotta love battle wounds. I believe I've had more serious injury from riding bikes than I did from a decade of skating.

Battle facial wounds. Mine, from last March:

so where you wearing a helemt or not??

so here is my worst most embarrising crash, i was 19 and doing the ol wanna be
bukowski thing. i went to the bar at 11am and drank 3 pitchers of yuengling, then
had 3 or 4 shots of wild turkey, then started in on a 6 pack of samual smith oatmeal stoudt.
after one sammy i realized i was blasted and decided to ride my bike home, about 10 mins
into the ride i blacked out.
i had never blacked out before so i panicked and slammed the brakes, but sadly for me i was going
down a hill with no helmet on. i faceplanted though i don't remember anything. i had a concussion,
2 missing teeth and a dislocated shoulder.
the crash sobered me up and i went to the hospital, the next day i was back at the bar.
i drank like that for 6 more years. been clean for 4 years jan 15th, woo-hoo!.
anyways thats my sad crash story.

ha, pavement. when your only bike is a fixed gear, don't switch to freewheel when you're drunk.
