Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - IRO Decal removal....god i'm sorry

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm really gonna get raked over the coals on this one. Before someone says it, i just waded through ten pages of IRO threads and didn't find my answer.
I just got a raise so I'm starting to research complete OTB fixies since my peugeot conversion is a piece of **** with a bumbike hub.
I like the Pista's and can get one for pretty cheap, but the more I read about IRO the more I think it would be a cool company to support. Plus I have this thing for shiny black bikes with colored wheels (save the hipster comments, we already know I am one since I posted a topic about IRO's in the FGSS forum). I even love the shape of the tubing on the Mark V since I dig the more modern asthetic. My only beef with the IRO is the large white logo on the bike. I find it a bit ugly and garish (sorry tony) and wanted to know if it is possible to remove it, or if it is painted on the bike.
My second question, which I'm pretty sure I alread answered with my search, but just wanted some confirmation on, is...if I order the deluxe wheelset, can I get red deep V's w/ black spokes/ hubs?
Finally, since i'm ****ed already for creating this topic I might as well damn my soul all the way. Where the **** is the stash pocket on a chrome bag? Is it just the little open pocket betwee the out covering and the liner near the side of the bag? I'm stumped.
Sorry again...

keep looking for that pocket, if it helps trying ripping it apart to see if you can find some tiny pockets.

the stash pocket is the area you find when you remove the liner. its just velcroed in... you get a nice big stash pocket.

You don't have access to the stash pocket until you reach level 10.
Stash pockets are available on Metropolis and Kremlin's. If you have a smaller one, it's not there.
i thought the stash pocket was the one on the bottom right outside seam

can't yoout get the 'blacked out' version? or is that no longer offered? (or did it have the logo?)
I believe you can ask Tony for a non-decal'd frame.

or take 00 steel wool and go to town. It's gonna take forever but it will remove just enough that you know you're through the decal paint.

sweet. I thought about asking when I called but didn't want to offend the guy. "Uh i want to buy one of your bikes, but I think the decal looks stupid...can I take it off?" :D
And it's a metropolis. All black. I swear to god i'm gonna rip the ****er apart stitch by stitch.

imho, i don' think scratching through the protective layer is worth getting the decal off. it's not painted on, but rather is sticker/your classic decal underneath protective cdlearcoat. black electrical tape or gaff works pretty good, and from a distance is near invisible. you can get the unmarked frames because he used to offer a powerdercoating service, and the decals then arrived as stickers that you could choose to attach or leave off. don't know if thats still available.
although you probably figured this out, the head badge IS very easy to take off. just take a butter knife, wedge it carefully under the badge, and then with light pressure pry off. its some kind of double sided sticky tape and will leave no residue.
pichote out.
I scratched mine of of a rob roy starting with my finger nail finnished with a butter knife, looked fine afterwards

I just plan on waiting until the paint looks crappy and powdercoating it orange or something.

If they are still in good shape after you pull them off
can you send them to me to put on my mercier tt ??
it's not paint it's powdercoated, so you may have to wait quite a while

mm...OK.
Isn't there some sort of vinyl or other plastic tape you can get that goes on very smoothly and looks close to the reflectiveness of paint? I remember a thread about a shop in NYC that stocked this tape in different colors, so you could ride a different bike color every day...

Can you find it now. It is in the seam near where the shoulder strap connects at the bottom.

go to your lbs and ask for some touch-up paint. they come with most bikes, and most lbs' just pile em up in a box, they might give em to you for free. just brush some black paint over it, that's what i did. looks purty.

back in the day (2003 or somethin'), IRO decals were over the clearcoat.
If I were in the market for one, I'd definitely want the Angus sans decals. My IRO "highlander" is of '03 vintage, and peelin' them suckers off was the first thing I did. I just don't like their logos.

did you put that peugot conversion on craig's list a few weeks back? it's a pretty nice looking one if it is.

wow...that ****er is hidden hella good. I feel kind of let down that I couldn't find it on my own, but to be honest there's probably no way I would have ever found it. Thanks for the pic.
HCE...nah, I have an addiction to buying bikes, not selling them. I like to imagine a wonderful night when all of my friends meet up at my house, get drunk, and then I walk into the room with an evil look on my face and tell them that not only did I find a way to get to the Acropolis titty bar via nothing but bike paths, but that I also have enough bikes to get us all there. Muahahaha
And finally, I agree with the dude above. I just hate the IRO logo, I don't think it has an asthetic appeal whatsoever.
Thanks for all the info guys, and once again sorry for beating the dead horse.

i like your humor. so does LWR, judging by her laughter...you need to come out to next tuesday's ride....meet at 7pm at pioneer square, leave at 7:30ish...first stop--it seems to be becoming tradition--is the alberta street pub...11th and alberta in NE.

Dood, no problem. I didn't even know the bag had a stash pocket until DC Emily showed me the secrets of the chrome. One bag to rule them all.
Thanks for all the info guys, and once again sorry for beating the dead horse.
its my experience that dead horses are good for little more than repeated beatings.
I can't believe you guys gave up the stash pocket that easily or quickly. What's this forum coming to?
Oh, and on Chromes, the space under the liner is a good spot to stash tools. Not mixed in with your other crap, and not really needing to be protected from the rain and whatnot. Reaching around down there is how I found the pocket, if I remember right...
