I have a 1/4" mole above my left nipple that i would like to get rid of. Is it possible to just cut it off? Would it grow back? Would the resulting scar be worse than the mole itself?

Depends on how badly you scar. A dermotologist can scrape it off and will likely leave a small scar where it was. On the upside the scar will be much ligher in color than the mole.

On a side note, if you have a lot of moles - ensure that keep a close eye on them personally and have a dermotologist look at them every 12-24 months. I had one removed when I was 20 that had turned cancerous. Two others were 'pre-cancer.'

Got an X-acto knife and a couple shots of Jack D? Got rid of two plantars warts just fine. Didn't even scar.

There's also poison you can get that you inject into the mole's tunnel. It eats it and dies underground...

See your GP, he should have a vat of liquid nitrogen for just such purposes. I had one on my left cheek, with a couple of applications of a swab dipped in the LN in about 10 days the mole just crumbled off. Cost me about $40.

I saw a documentry that had some good tips on how to deal with underground varmints. I believe it was called 'Caddyshack'

An old folk remedy is to get someone to rub the nipple and the immediate affected area with ice. It won't remove the mole but will feel really, really good. :p

I wouldn't recommend cutting it off yourself, but a dermatologist can remove it fairly easily and quickly.

Another form of mole removal:
Mr. Zaporozhsky has not been so fortunate. Russian news reports of his sentencing last week suggested that he had been drawn into an ambush because he was suspected of helping the United States identify and arrest Robert P. Hanssen, who admitted to being a Russian mole inside the F.B.I. In addition to the Russian news media, The Los Angeles Times reported on Mr. Zaporozhsky's case last week.

Watch out for melanoma. Any very dark, or discolored moles you should watch out for, they could be cancerous. Have it checked out by a doctor.

I wouldn't cut it off, just keep your eyes on it in the future it looks fine.
Does the Mole really bother you?? Just wondering why you want to remove it.

It doesn't really bother me, but it sticks out a little and doesn't look good.

Most dr.'s will just freeze it and remove it that way. I definitely suggest you ask your dr. and not try doing it yourself.

But honestly I wouldn't have it removed.

The same way you get rid of a gopher; plastique formed into the shape of cute bunny rabbits.

But honestly I wouldn't have it removed.Somehow this reminds me of that kid's circumcision in Nip/Tuck. I don't see what the big deal is. In some cultures, they do the circumcision by yanking your foreskin out as far as it will go, lay it over a log and smack it as hard as they can with a stick. No doctors, anesthesia or surgical instruments needed! It's obviously not life-threatening as that culture has managed to survived over thousands of years.

I would consult those vegan-cutters about this... apparently they're very good at operating on themselves. Although some of their intent is to create as large of scars as possible, so you might want to research more effective healing techniques.

If you cut it off, it will for sure grow back.. you have to have surgery, the root need to come off!
The scar would be worst the the mole and not to mention the pain you'll have from removing it yourself, yicks... Signed, moley moley..
