General Cycling Discussion - 70 year old Integrated headset

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I found this foto of an integrated headset
on an 1933 Umberto Dei Route.
I knew integrated was around in the 50s/60s
(bianchi had em) but 1933?
Thanks to Joel Metz's Umberto Dei website for the pic.

Wow! I didn't know integrated headsets had been around that long. Some bad ideas just never go away :-)

Some bad ideas just never go away... like elliptical chainrings, K-Mart bikes, and stopping to "pet the nice doggie that likes to run next to me".
Woof.

Hey-what a great idea for a new thread!
Other bad ideas that won't go away? How about cut-out saddles, glueless patches, any tyre by vittoria, etc. This thread could be endless!

one of my bikes has bio-pace chainrings & the other ordinary round , both shimano, both the same size and theres not realy any noticable differance, not enough to warrent the expence of new chain-rings anyway, the only thing is the front shifter on the bio-pace needs to be adjusted a lot finer than the ordinary round one.
