Bought a soundtrack earlier this week and it has a song by Calexico, "Bandillera", that is very very good. The closest I can get to describing this song is mariachi music, but it's a genre I'm completely unfamiliar with so I could be way off. If anyone knows this song, and can recommend some music along the same lines, I'd really appreciate it. Or recommend some other mexican folk music. That'll do, too. Or maybe point me in the right direction so I can pull my head out of my ass regarding this type of music.

Wait... isn't mariachi sans percussion? This song was very heavy on the percussion and rhythm if that helps, any.

By the way, just bought that album. Good stuff, good stuff.

But I still need to know what style of music my brain is set on in my OP. Is it flamenco? This is driving me nuts.

Also, have you been able to catch the Iron and Wine + Calexico tour? Holy ****, that was a fun show.
