If giboyeux doesn't get up to anything too crazy tonight, we're going to ride Stage 3 tomorrow morning at 11 am. Meet at the starting point (Division and Sacramento). Nice and easy pace, just to get our bearings. Come meet us out!

...tonight's going to be boring, I think, unless someone comes up with something FAST.

Anyone going to Critical Mass? It's a nice day out!

Rockabilly band tonight!

aint no rockabilly at the Clipper tonite.. it's Can.Ky.Ree (http://www.cankyree.com/) ,
a pretty great gypsy/folk/western/waltz band.

i'm probably going to that.

giboyeux
01-27-06, 04:13 PM
Huh. No kidding. They usually have that rockabilly band.

giboyeux
01-27-06, 07:01 PM
Not to be Capt. Buzzkill, Christ.

nota bene: drunk. also, what's with cops arresting middle-aged women participating in candle light vigils? I mean, COME ON. Arrest the dude playing the ****ty protest music, at least! Do everyone a favor!

I am so there tomorrow, strength of will permitting. The drunker I get tonight, the earlier I pass out and wake up tomorrow right?

Yeah what the **** was up with this critical mass? I hightailed it like a turkey in late november. Did it disburse peacefully? Is anybody I know arrested?

giboyeux
01-27-06, 08:11 PM
I think only three ppl got arrested.

I got out of there pretty quick -- I'm "not allowed" to deal with cops right now.

efarrar
01-27-06, 08:19 PM
yeah hopefully those three people were able to negotiate their way out of jail, it would suck to be that 1% of people who got arrested.

chicagoamdream
01-27-06, 08:25 PM
Damn, arrests? **** that.

Cogsci and the tequila are out, but the Clipper is in.

great ride today.. as long as those pesky funeral processions stay out of CD's way, this should be an awesome race.

Q: i'm wondering if the neutral stage ends on Independance Southbound, or at the turn to Douglas.

steaktaco
01-28-06, 02:29 PM
sigh. I did the route but do not remember anything at all... every street and every thing looks the same. I will get so lost when you guys drop me.

Neutral zone ends when you turn left on Hamlin out of Garfield Park I think.

Everyone come prepared for flats if you know what is good for you.

ugg. I was planning on driving up there tomorrow morning at 5:30 in the am. However, the 80-100% chance of rain has me a bit aprehensive. I am not sure if I want to get several hours of sleep, drive two and half hours, and then ride 22 miles on glass covered roads in the rain. I am just not sure if its worth it to me. This blows. I could deal with anything but rain.

Broken glass everywhere
People pissing on the stairs, you know they just Don’t care
I can’t take the smell, I can’t take the noise
Got no money to move out, I guess I got no choice
Rats in the front room, roaches in the back
Junkie’s in the alley with a baseball bat
I tried to get away, but I couldn’t get far
Cause the man with the tow-truck repossessed my car
Chorus:
Don’t push me, cause I’m close to the edge
I’m trying not to loose my head
It’s like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder
How I keep from going under

well, today was a 70% chance and we rode for 2hrs in nice, dry conditions. so i guess you have to ask yourself... do you feel lucky?

Everyone knows that the meetup place tomorrow morning is Boulevard Bikes, right?

From the myspace page:

"Sounds complicated, but if you take a practice ride you'll see it's intuitive."

I hope so...I think I'm going to get really confused in some of those park loops.

well...i guess if you're not going, i'm not either. but i'm prepared for the rain (and the glass), so it doesn't bother me. plus, it's supposed to ~45F which isn't too bad. i'll be auctioning off dry socks at the finish line.

just ride in the rain, and bring an extra set of clothes. i'm sure you can find a shower if you need it. i have a wool long sleeve shirt you can use, and i can borrow my friends rain jacket if you want.

I decided last night that I was going to skip this stage. I needed to catch up on some sleep and play with my new cyclocomputer/heart rate monitor.

It's 12:45pm and I just woke up. How was it?

WET!
But I knew that going into it. The crash at the start was fairly gnarly. I'm not sure who the young lady was but she was back up moments after hitting pavement. Tough gal. A few people went down on some turns but for the most part the ride was just plain fun. The transition from paved path to dirt path in Columbus park was an unexpected challenge.
Good turnout for a rainy day....some 60+ people!
