Hey guys/gals I have been starting to ride fixed, and today my chain broke. I am using a 9 -speed cain and a 9speed crankset with the 2/32 cog in back. I know I have some huge muslces and all so I would not like to break another chain, can I use a 7speed or BMX chain instead for this setup? Thanks for the help.

yes

yes, but it won't do anything about the poor installation that likely caused your first chain to break.
it was the huge muscles that did it, i bet
even a cheap chain is rated for several thousand newtons...unless you're a thousand pounds of muscle, your strength had nothing to do with it.

user error, read sheldon's article on chains. use an 8 speed SRAM, there's no way anyones strenght can brake a chain.

On a ss where there's no derailleur to jam up the chain, you have to do something seriously silly to break a chain. Probably push a pin in too far, damage a side plate during installation etc. Unless it was a rusted-through chain you left out back in August, or some $1 chinese job:)
Moral: learn to assemble a chain or kick your mechanic in the balls.

oh yeah another thing, they don't make 2/32 fixed gear cogs. i could be wrong, but i seriously doubt there are any.

8-Speed chain it is, Could of pushed the pin too far, luckly I wasn't standing when it broke. The cog is prob. not 2/32 but the road size not the track size.

If he converted a cassette hub to fixed that'd be the case that he could get 9 (hell even 10 spd) cogs to use.

I started breaking chains on my trials bike due to micro-sized drivetrain (18t front cog, 15t rear). I switched to a KMC kool - they make a 3/32" version. They're not the stiffest chain, but I haven't had one break in 6 months.
What kind of riding do you use a 18t front / 15t rear on?

once you start thinking about the physics involved, the leverage caused by your cranks could possibly reach that.

Don't ever use the seat so why put one on(or so I'm told). I've seen some kids do pretty sick things with one of those bikes...all torque...
