Bicycle Mechanics - Brake Braze ons for V and canti brakes

I would like to convert a couple older road bikes to Commuter/cyclecross style bikes.
Is there a source for the Braze on's that are required to do this.
I have Sheldon Browns article on the fixture but do not know how to I.D. the right type of Boss to buy and where to get them.
I want to do this myself and have a couple of forks to practice on.
Appreciate any guidance offered

1) This is possible, and you can do it...
2) But you're really better off sticking with the original brakes. If they're the old centerpull brakes, those are FINE. Excellent brakes. The real issue with them is bad levers and cables as OEM equipment, and flexy cable stops on the stem. Replacing the levers with aero levers and using modern housing and inner cables will give you excellent braking. Going all the way and getting another cable stop might help your modulation, too. If you're using sidepulls from the same era, if the bike is anything but the bottom of the barrel, those should be okay, too. Raleigh three-speed type stamped sidepulls ARE pretty bad, though.
Anyway, what you're looking at is a whole lot of painstaking work for less benefit than you think (unless you're planning on using v-brakes, I suppose, but even then...). There is a clamp-on unit with bosses, shaped like an upside-down U. Not cheap, but probably cheaper and easier than brazing.
3) All that being said, I've never been one to back down from a project just because it's unreasonable. If you're set on doing this, go for it! And have fun. Wish I could help you.

Canti style brakes permit a greater clearance which is required for thick tyres or mud accumulation.
Your old bikes may have limited clearance at the fork or frame. What is the widest tyre you can currently fit?
I have an old road bike which takes long drop calipers. I can fit a 32mm tyre + fenders which is more than adaquate for rough commuting and good trails.
The caliper brakes are much better than the canti on my touring bike with a lighter feel and better modulation. Stopping power is about the same.
Thanks for the information . Of course I would like to Improve braking and these suggestions are good the other part is just to do it. Pinewood Derby is over.
I have found a few links but it is hard to tell if the Braze ons will fit the fork
