Touring - Labrador - canada
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm just curious if there is anyone on here who has cycled through labrador. The thought has come into my mind several times, but deep down I know too much about labrador to seriously consider it. I figure there are some folks who are surely a little more brave then I, and that they'd probably be crazy enough to hang out here.
The route that I've been thinking about is from Blanc Sablon up to Cartwright Junction, then west across the trans-Labrador phase 3 to Goose bay. From there west for a while until hitting Labrador City and then on into quebec.
I doubt it if there is anyone who has went this route, mainly because there isn't much there besides musquitoes, but if so, I'd like to hear about it.

You might find this article interesting- "Riding the Manic 5". It's available at the Adventure Cycling Association website (www.adv-cycling.org) in the archives section of Adventure Cyclist Magazine. You can download it free as a guest. I read it sometime ago (it was written in 1995 I believe). There is more than a casual reference to mosquitos!
I can see why there isn't much info on the route, because theres nothing there to write about!
Thats the beauty of it though, theres hardly anything, just the wilderness and a few scarce towns along the way
Thanks for the links, they were alright
You genius, just the excuse I was looking for to buy a pusgley!

Unfortunately, after I read this the following tune started up in my head - -
"Nothin' from nuthin' leaves nuthin' ..."
Since I'm not touring right now, this is not a serious situation. However, if I were touring, I would be hearing that same song, over and over again until I climbed into my sleeping bag for the night. And then it just might pop up in my dreams, too. Oh, the joys of touring!
Best - J
PS - The song probably doesn't register if you are under 85.
