Touring - This documentary makes me excited about touring.

Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman epic motorbike tour. This makes me want ot get on the road so bad, I can hardly wait.

Although I try to be cordial to motorcyclists along the way, the differences between forms of travel are as night and day. Even so, you may really like this. It is funny and epic(I know I said that, but we're talking about Mongolia and Siberia) and they have great personalities. The planning and travel diaries really made me think about my own planning and touring, although the bicycle is my weapon of choice.

I too enjoyed the documentary, but I think few bicycle tourist take along a film crew and doctor, employ a fixer for each country, carry a satellite phone, etc.

Bicycle touring is so much better!

People travel the roads mcgregor and boreman travelled on bicycles without complaint. Those chumps complained bitterly after a few hundred km's of bad roads. Isn't that the point in crossing siberia and mongolia? How s**t it would be is it was asphalt the whole way.

If I ever got to where I couldn't ride a bicycle I would take up motorcycle touring no problem, I get along as well with the motorcyclists I meet along the way as I do other cyclists.
I have toyed with the idea of riding the Transam route on a Moped, I have already done it on a bicycle, driven most of it in a van, I figure a moped would be the next logical mode.
