Books, Movies, Music & Entertainment - Why are there no good out?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Seems to be a dry spell for good movies right now. Looks like some winners comming this year though. Ice Age 2, Pirates 2, Lady in the Water. Too bad King Kong was a loser. Keep at it Peter! I suspect he wont be getting to many more budget movies though. But I heard he was suposed to make the Hobbit, we can only hope.

For GOOD movies move beyond the H'wood monster buk movies, as many of then indicate money doesn't buy nor make great movies
look at what is playing at the movie festivals, i.e. Sundance and the smaller "art houses"
So much of "H'wood is aimed at the gun shootin', ultra loud, 15-18 year old crowd
and I never see those or the HUGE blockbuster garbage
Sequels?, have yet to hear of any that are the equal of the original, NOT a single one
My biggest gripe is about the prices.........with all the stuff being shot "on location" in the 3rd world or eastern Europe the prices have yet to reflect in cheaper tickets, lets get real for $150Million one can buy all of Romania

Very rarely does a movie come out that I want to see. I can't stand paying the price of a DVD to see stupid movies in a theater. As a matter of fact, the last movie I went to see in a theater was Terminator 3.

my gripe is more with the theaters. i've had less and less fun going to the theaters over the past few years. you pay a lot of money, and then they show you a crap load of advertisments and previews. it was okay when the ads used to be slides and you could talk to your friend\date but now it's really loud annoying corporate advertising. you're basically paying to be a capative audence. i hate the experience. and now people are using their cell phones to text message more and more (we can still see the screen light dummy).

I have high hopes for The DaVinci Code coming out this year. I am not a big movie watcher but someone has given my wife some gift cards to the local AMC theater and I am her built-in date.
We saw The Chronicles of Narnia the other night and it was one of the best times I have ever had at the movies.
