I like cars a great deal but I am far from a car lover. Watching the damaging or even total destruction of a vehicle in any kind of condition is not going to bother me longer than a few seconds unless it is from a very select few models from varying manufacturers. The car in the video is not one of those. In fact I have no idea what kind of car that even is, please educate me.
Now this vid does disturb me but that is only because of the people in it.
I feel the desire to warn you that if you click on that link what you are going to see is going to surely be against any TOS on this site or a different one. I honestly recommend you do not look at it due to the violent and racist content it contains but since this a free country I am obligated to give you the option to view it even if it is against your benefit. You have been warned.

Okay... first of all, I too would not describe myself to be a car lover but I do like cars as a piece of engineering... as part of a creation and I certainly like my vehicles well enough as a piece of property that I own. However, I would recommend against watching the video simply because it seems to be boring and pointless. I'm not sure what the big deal is or why it was even newsworthy. It's just some guys trying to pry a body panel off and not doing a very good job of it. It's no more shocking than what I would see by strolling by a local auto body shop or junkyard. I'm not even sure I see why a diehard car-lover would shed tears over seeing that. Perhaps I'm missing something.

If you mean mine it is still there as of this post. I do not really care if the mods remove it though, it probably should not be watched by anyone.
The car in the first movie is a Maybach, and unless things have changed, the most expensive production car on the planet. If you can call it a production car. Handbuilt, one at a time, with appointments that would make most NY penthouses look like the slums. What I don't get is WHY they are going at it with prybars. I didn't listen to the audio, but since it appears to be foriegn anyone know why they are doing this?
/agrees with the "pointless" post above.

Yeah, I think we're supposed to care only because it's a Maybach. As for why they're going at it with prybars: I think they're Croatian (though I can't hear the audio very clearly, and I could be totally wrong), and I'm under the impression that a lot of very wealthy Croatians got that way through brute force... maybe they're just used to solving problems with prybars?

It looked to me like the car was side-swiped and it fouled the dor/fender line, preventing the door from opening. The prybars were being inneffectivly used to move the sheet metal around so they could get the door open.
This was what my bodyman friend did to get the door to open when my van got hit.

True, I just noticed that I get a connection error now. That is for the best. Read some of the comments to find out what it was about.

yikes, i guess a lot of people got out of the wrong side of bed this morning.
I figured most would've recognized the Maybach name, and would have an idea that the price tag is $1,000,000, and to see some muppets butchering it with a crowbar is frustrating..
And this thread is pointless? Have you seen the other garbage on "Foo"..
Me thinks a lot of people are in pissy moods.

didnīt mean to be pissy but this a bike site-
Off-Topic chit chat with no general subject.
Well, i guess i'll give the mods permission to lock this thread if they want. Its obviously lacking the bike subject matter that the "this or that game" thread or the "word association thread" has, or most other threads that FOO has..

Well, it's in Foo so it doesn't matter if there's bike content or not. As far as the car being a Maybach, I'm still not sure that would cause me to care even if I did value such a car. For all I know, they were in the process of commencing a repair. Be that as it may, even if it was wonton destruction of something that is fully replaceable (albiet at possibly great cost), it wouldn't phase me. It's destruction of something that is irreplacable that is usually hard to watch. For instance, I was sad when a very rare Boeing 307 (the only one of its kind) that was fully restored over the course of six years by a group of Boeing engineers here was forced to ditch in Elliot Bay due to fuel starvation. But even then I knew the plane could be lifted and re-restored so I wasn't heartbroken over it.

I understood the sarcasm otherwise I would have actually locked the thread. As a mod, I have to take seriously a request by the thread starter to close the thread. So I was just responding in seriousness to that to make sure. If you really truly want the thread locked then let me know.
