today was not my day. so first i was at the basketball game with the pepband and i triped on a guitar cord and fell down about 4 lengths of bleachers in front of the entire student body.....if only that were the worst of my problems

So after the game my friends and i all go to dennys. On our way leaving dennys i made a left hand turn at an intersection, i had a green light but i failed to yield to oncoming traffic before i turned.
2 miliseconds later i ran head on into a jacked up 1999 dodge ram with a grill. I was driving a extreamly small 1989 b2200 mazda pickup.

Luckly for my friend and i we were both wearing seats belts so nobody was hurt (i dont think the other drivers even felt it). Unluckly my pick up now has no front. Its caved in about a foot.....the truck is completely totaled. The only thing good about the day was the officer who responded happend to know my mom, She cuts his wifes hair. So since he was being friendly he gave the lowest possible citation and said i could keep this off my record if i take some driving classes. I guess its good i am trained in useing my bicycle as an alternate form of transportation.

i suppose you might be wondering what happend to the dodge ram.....the license plate fell off.

Don't feel too bad................back in the 80's when my sister was first learning to drive and we went to get gas, my mother front passenger (smoking a cigarette), me behind my sister who was driving, my grandmother behind my mother. Okay, spring day, windows down in the 1976 Ford Torino with the pointed front bumpers. Pull up to get gas, bumper catched gas hose my sister gets nervous and gooses the gas, gas begins to pour into the car and we bail out. Your asking yourself, why didn't you guys blow up or catch fire? God was looking after us that day!

So, yours could have been worse, I ate about a half gallon of gas it felt like! I was 12 years old I believe at the time.

My mom was on the receiving end of that same type of accident day before yesterday (the 27th). And I've been in your shoes turning left on an unprotected green (and I actually went toe to toe with a Dodge Ram myself too (and like you lost). Luckily mine was at a near dead stop, but still some how did $900 damage to the Dodge (those damned plastic pieces are expensive!) and I had to drive a two toned Caprice Classic till I gathered up the money to pay for the paintjob on my car after we pulled the hood, front grill from the junkyard.

Glad you and everyone in the car is alright.

First, glad everyone is OK. That makes this easy to talk about.
So you wrecked your first car. Welcome to the club. I'll bet you'll drive more carefully now and that's good. It may not seem like it now, but in a few years, you may look back and say that accident caused you to be a better driver. Just don't let it get you down.

Shouldn't this be in the Living Car Free forum?

J/k!

I got into an accident 2 weeks after I got my license, didn't total it but does some major damage, but I was so pissed off I didn't go to school the next day, which pissed off my coach. At least you were driving an older POS like me, won't be that bad to replace. Just be thankful you didn't save all your money and buy a really nice new car, you'd probably still be pay for it.

That sucks! I don't understand how you hit the other truck head-on, tho. Were they coming the opposite way or did you hit them on the street you were turning in to?

My first accident was in high school. I was driving my truck home after class(a '72 F250, no rear bumper) and came to the T-intersection to get on a local highway. It was set up like one of those intersections that splits at the artery: left turn lane is perpendicular to the highway with stop sign and the right lane merges into the highway and has a yield sign. Both lanes had stop signs, tho(probably 'cause most traffic was high schoolers).

I had stopped in the right lane at the stop sign, waiting on a car to pass. I let off the brakes, but noticed a motorcycle coming up so I put foot back on the brake. The guy behind me never even looked to see if I was still there and never saw the motorcycle so he ran right into my tailgate at about 30 mph. Busted my lip on the steering wheel--lap belts only, don'tchaknow.

He was driving his mom's station wagon--one of the full-size Chevrolets. The wagon's bumper slid right under my bed and the tailgate/frame pushed everything above the Chevy's bumper back about a foot and half. My tailgate had a couple dents in it. I almost got a ticket for not having a bumper, but it wouldn't have made a difference to the Chevy anyway. My truck might not have had any dents if I'd had one, tho. Hell, the truck was only worth about $200. Got a junkyard bumper for about $35 and mounted it myself. My little brother's still got that truck....

Nice mapping it out lol. Does this mean you'll get a new vehicle or repair the truck?

Crappy feeling isn't it? Heck, it wasn't even my fault when I totaled my car (lady pulled out in front of me without looking), and I still felt like I'd made a big mess.

Lesson learned. Don't let it go to waste.

I think the genesis of your problems is when you eat food from Denny's. *shaking my head*

Glad you're ok. Next time, tell your friend NOT to lick his finger and stick it in your ear WHILE you're driving.

Two ways, click on the list of available smileys or type colon, roflmao, colon (no spaces). You should get something like this after you save your post: :roflmao:

Good to hear you're OK man...I've been through a few car crashes, and I can say that there is one constant truth in car crashes....they suck.

Blonduathlongrl: another way is to get a smiley you like, throw it on photobucket, and use IMG tags to put ip up here.

You are lucky, it could have been worse. I hit a wall at 50 MPH, did very great damage to my spine area, 4 messed up vertibrea in my back, and I still have neck pain...

Just go buy a new car... you deserve it... you know how many times we do stupid stuff like that! - like me accidently running a red today not paying attention. It can happen to any of us!

...like that! - like me accidently running a red today not paying attention. It can happen to any of us!
So I was riding along through an intersection (I had the green light) when this cager that was obviously not paying attention ran the red light, barely missed me cuz of my cat-like reflexes, and kept on going cuz she knew I was gonna chase her down and give her a stern lecture about paying attention and not trying to do homework while driving...:p
