I'm begining to reduce my inventory! Keeping 3 schwinns, a suburban, le tour 12.2 and a "high plains" mountain bike, which I beleive was a police bike, made in Taiwan, 0600 stamped on headbadge. I'd like to be in touch with the schwinn owners for more detail information. Is there such a thread? Thanks :D

My guess would be a 1990 model, based on the headbadge number, assembled on the 60th day of the year. That would also match with the components you list, I believe. This was a basic mountain bike of the time period........What makes you think it was a police bike? Are there decals to indicate this?

What is it that you want to know about it? Sounds like you already know pretty much all there is. The High Plains is not in the '89 catalog. I will check my '90 catalog when I get home to see if it's in there.

The tires, street/dirt combo, have a police decal on them and a handlebar mirror. I don't a mountain biker would have this set up!!!

Thanks Scooper. Thats the one! except my frame isn't lugged, it's butt welded and I'm sure it weighs more than 28#, or maybe it's an earlier model, or special for a police bike!!!!

The 1990 model is quite similar except the Schwinn name is on the seat tube instead of the down tube as on the 1991 model that Stan's image shows. It's still a lugged frame though and is listed as 29 lbs.
