Recumbent - got 11,000 and I can't justify a bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

My grandma desided to give me my inheritance early. well I have a burley hepcat with everything but the crank is higher end stuff. well the bike was a limbo I upgraded everything but the cranks. then the frame broke and I got a hepcat frame as a replacement. would like a lighter bike but unless I spend atleast 3 grand for a lightning p38 or what I really want a carbent. but most of my riding is commuting carring atleast a few ponds but sometimes 20 pounds.

Sometimes things in life take precedence over a bike:eek:. But as you already seem to know, if you wanna make something work you can. There's ebay, or buying used, or year end models. When I've wanted something bad enough, I've found a way.

I don't think I want one bad enough. I found something needs to be really useful to be enjoyable. a new bike would not really do much for me if I really think about it.

I know it's not the sexiest thing to do with the money, and you may say it's none of my business, but how about investing in a reliable Mutual fund so you have it when you need it, like for buying a house. Just my $.02.

Those are important things. I know I couldn't find joy in a bike if I didn't have all those things taken care of. The thing is, my hobbies come only after everything else is taken care of. That's why some years I don't ride as much.
My hope for you is that you'll be able to take of the neccesary things and still be able to upgrade your bike.

I used to not be able to control myself and I still have problems on small stuff. I did get a laptop to use as my main computer and a ipod nano for my books on cd's at work.
