After 10 or so years of little serious cycling I ready to dive back in. Having kids and remodeling my house have kept me pretty busy and cycling fell by the wayside. Also have had 2 bikes stolen which really doesn't help much
I live in the Chicago area. My goal is to get back in reasonable shape to do a flat-lander century (the north shore) by the end of this coming summer.
For a bike I'm planning on putting together a 2005 Litespeed Tuscany. I'm taking advantage of the colorado cyclist sale on last years frames. My plan is the following...
'05 Litespeed Tuscany frame in a 57.
Easton ec90 slx carbon fork (what colorado cyclist is pairing with the frame now, this changed recentlyl
Ultegra 10 speed build kit with a few tweaks
a) FSA SLK compact crank 175mm (50-34) - only compact crank they have available
b) Easton EA70 carbon wing bar - like the wing shape, hoping the carbon will add to the ride comfort over an aluminum bar. not much weight savings if I remember right.
c) Mavic Open Pro custom built wheels
front - 28 spoke radial laced
rear - 32 spoke 3x drive side, radial non-drive side
Specialized Avatar saddle (worth checking out, I was skeptical but it works)
Look Keo sprint pedals
To be decided
tires - thinking michelin pro race 2's or their new Krylion in 700x23
I've already been reading quite a bit. I wish the search worked just a little better.
