After 7 years of faithful service, my old Bontrager is almost used up. Sad to say, because it is an awesome bike. The frame is still in excellent shape, and the worn out components could be replaced, but the front fork is what's going to kill off the bike. The bike has a 1 inch head tube, with a Bontrager designed fork crown on a Roch Shox Mag21. I've had the forks rebuilt every 3 years, but now I told there are no longer rebuild kits available. I've thought about what to do for a couple months now, and made the decision to buy a new bike and to semi-retire the old Bontrager. Better dusty in my garage, then dead in a dumpster.

Marzocchi makes a 1" headtube fork still...2002 exr at the very least. Give them a call.

Go to a rigid fork and resurrect it as a single speed.

If not send it to me, and I'll convert it and ride it. j/k

I think getting a rigid fork would be my best option. Now I just need to find an old Tange Switchblade or something like it. No go with the single speed though, I like to shift gears. I don't want to put a new Marzocchi on it because these forks have too much travel, and would raise the front end of the bike up throwing off the geomentry.

Most shops should be able to get you a rigid fork in 1", if not there are a ton of custom builders that could get you a sweet bladed fork for your bike.
