I would like to shorten a fork. i.e. decreasing the distance between the fork ends/axle to the fork crown. (long story, see second paragraph). the distance is around 10mm. I am looking at cutting the ends off and braze new drop outs on. Now is there a lugged (cupped) drop out out there or am I going to have to settle w the blade/tang type. And who would be interested in performing this surgery and how much am I looking at.

I recently bought a beautiful track frame. The problem is that I do not have the skills and painfree knees to ride brakeless on the streets and trails. (I ride fixed but w brake all the time) The track fork was not drilled and I did not want to drill out a piece of art. My though is to fit a road fork of note until I can feel better about going sans brakes (at lease on the trails). But the road fork is longer and will raise the front of the bike 10 mm , not a lot, but I really don't want to mess with the wholeness of the bike anymore than absolutely necessary. So my idea is to modify this older reynolds bianchi fork I have sitting around. Since I am going to do this, might as well do it w style...therefore the lugged fork end idea. Plus, if there is a willing artist and the price is right.....
