While perusing the bianchia-usa.com webisite today to dream about my upcoming winter purchase of a Volpe, I noticed the site has been updated with 2003 models...

...and to my surprise, the new Volpe is now equipped with a threadless headset, a la Trek's 520!

I've read ALL about the threaded vs. threadless debate on this site (let's not open up THAT can of worms again!) but it looks like I'm at a cross-roads here.

Besides the threadless headset, the chain rings have been changed from a 28/38/48 to a 30/42/52 (I can't understand why bike companies think tourists need higher gears!). But the new bike comes in such a cool color (Red Metal--my favorite color with connotations of my mid-80's music history)!

Have any of you big-city riders seen one of the new Volpes in a showroom with a price tag on it yet? Just curious to know if the 2003 "improvements" come with a higher price...

Cheers
