To fit into the budget I have allowed myself, the LBS was looking for a 2002 Giant Iguana for me. He was gonna get me an incredible price on the bike that allowed me to fit it into my minimal (i know i know) budget.

However, he couldn't find one in a 21 inch frame. And, the price jumped pretty good on the 2003. I really wanted this bike. :( :( :(

maybe this? (http://www.fritzsbikes.com/SALE.htm) is still available and fits your budget?

here's another possibility (http://www.citybikes.com/bikes/models/2001/02iguanase.htm)

21 inch...holy smokes you must be 6'7 or bigger. Those frames fit big and 21 inch ends up more like a road bike fit than mtb :)

Specialized bikes are a lot cheaper in 2003 you may want to consider some of those.

Remember, everyone, it's inseam that matters, and not even the inseam of your pants. Measure that bad boy out. Although, there's a correlation between inseam and height, usually. I ride either a 19 or 20 and I'm about 6'2". A 21.5 seems big for under 6' tall, but it all depends on your inseam.

Anyway, sorry to hear that the bike's gone. Save up for another year and get a better bike! (I'm not dogging on the Giant, by the way).

Well I spoke to Rick again (LBS owner/operator) and he said he is going to keep looking for me. I just can't afford to get a 2003 model and purchase the other pieces parts/accessories/upgrades that I will need off the bat. Plus, I am buying two bikes (one for my wife as well). That is the painful part of it. Oh well. The weather just started to suck anyway.

And yes, some people feel that I am tall ;)

6'7" with a 37.5" inseam.

If I were doing pure xc I would get around that size (6'5") but I like a smaller frame to protect my dangly bits :D

The bike I have is deffentily more XC design (entry level MTB) It is what the LBS recomended for me. If I was getting a bike for downhill I would deffentilly go for a smaller frame.
