YES, I walked into the shop and there they were......2 red bighit comps! Jump for joy! I hadnt ordered one, I was just waiting till they came in which was a biiiiig mistake. The reason being, is that the owner wanted to keep them both on the floor instead of selling one to me at cost (because I work there). So I begged him to let me have one and he told me that he would call specialized to see how many they had left. I didnt think they were going to have any left because they ALWAYS sell out of them, but there was 1 Medium left, yes......1 frickin Bighit Comp in medium left. How lucky am I?????? So I went to get the cash and bought the bike.

And of course I had to go ride it!! So I called up one of my friends and he didnt want to go until I told him that I had the new bike. So he came into town and picked me up (he got his license last week) and we drove out to the trail. Even though we drove there, there is still a long uphill road that we have to ride to get to the trailhead, and by the time we got there I was cramped up and my throat hurt real bad from the stupid cold air (yea....I whined just now) We took a short rest and then we were off to ride "your mom".starts off real steep and keeps going steep to a real steep rock ride down, and I rode it all the way for the first time because it was so smooth with the new bike. I could have ridden it all with my P3 but I suck so O well. I get too sketched on parts of log rides especially when trees are real near by them, because I always think i'm gunna clip my bars on one and fall to my death:D . Anyway.....after a bunch of log rides, teeters and a jump at the end we are back on the way to my friends van. I think the cold air and me being out of shape ruined my ride sort of, but it was still a good ride.

Sounds like a nice ride Klein. Are those 8" rotors? Looks like it. What kind of shocks are on it? Too bad it's the weather sucks already. Gives you something to look forward to in the Spring though. :)

8 front 6 rear, fox vanilla r rear, marzocchi DJ 2 fork. I'm really glad that they came in before there was too much snow on the ground, but leaves are just as bad. Probably get a few more crappy rides in before I have to put it away.

I was gonna say it looked like a 6 in the rear, but thought it might just have been the picture angle. :)

Klein...congrats on the new bike! also, that's a kick-ass color for the bike. I'm sure you are going to have a great time with the new bike. I have a friend who has a '01 and he uses it for everything from Trail rides to full-on DH and the bikes holds up great to the abuse.

Too bad the winter is upon you but I"m sure you are going to enjoy it next year.

Also...what's the specs on the bike?

Klein, I know you hate Cannondale and I ain't going to fling dirt at you in return!

But, I give you 10/10 for getting that bike and it sounds like your first ride was a good one. Thanks for the feedback, it's always good to see how other forum members rate their bikes and the experience and opinions riding it.

Winter is a crap time to get a new bike. Generally, the UK dealers offer good deals as they try to clear the 2002 stock as sales dive when it gets colder and darker. At least one thing to forward to though: your new baby will be waiting for you when the warmth and longer days come back.

In the meantime, enjoy it while you can.

Hey Klein, ain't new bike fun?

Sweet bike. I almost bought a BigHit Comp last year's model. But then I found my Uzzi. More suited to my style of riding.

Congrats on the new ride and BTW, sorry to hear about the crappy weather. Down here, the GOOD weather is just beginning. Today temps were in the 80's and not a cloud in the sky!
