Beat a dead horse
I have NEVER lost a race against a dead horse! EVER. :p

Oh, and I hope by "Suntour friction," we are talking about the Suntour one-way-ratchet shifters that make that delicious "zzzzzzzik!" noise, because they rock! :)

McD's was busted for kangaroo meat and horse? Ah well, they both work - just like Campy and Shimano.

Just read Fast Food Nation . That'll make you appreciate the fact that you don't eat fast food, if you're one to avoid such things.

But, I digress and vote dead horse on this one.

There is Campy and Shimano single speed stuff...but don't tell them that. ;)

:fight:

I can say, though, that if you race domestically (either getting paid or in your own backyard), riding Shimano makes wheel changes much easier. That, or you can just avoid flatting!

It's a built-in feature of all shifting systems. See, the product managers already know that sooner or later, everyone returns to their roots and start pining for single-speed with coaster brakes. So eventually their products are engineered to "think ahead" and immediately present to you that capability by summarily locking you into a specific gear. Just ride your current group long enough...
