Folding Bikes - Best Folder for Living Room Display

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Swift, Dahon, Downtube, Birdy, Bike Friday? Nah.

Moulton? Well maybe in all it's full bodied glory, but they only separate, they don't gracefully fold for a unique display.

The obvious bike to keep for show in the living room is shown below. This is my personal folder.

OK. I'll bite. Since your fireplace is a modern fake, you obviously would not want a real working bike like Raliegh Twenty in front of it.
You do realise I am joking, right?

My whole attraction to a folder is that I don't have to keep it in the living room (where my recumbent used to be). It'll fit in a closet! But each to their own..

Yep, you're right. Your Brompton does look great in that setting.

Reminds of a comment I read once, can't remember where, that a Strida might be the folder that looks best hanging on the wall like a piece of art. ;)

Now for riding . . . but that's another topic, isn't it?

Now don't be too picky, people. Some of the main reasons I like about my Brompton folder is the way it looks when I am not riding it is it's ability to be tucked away in some tiny closet or some other odd nook or cranny or when I am visiting a friend-the bike is welcomed inside their house, as well as hospitals, theatres, or museums, schools, etc. The bike does not scream dirty, unkept, an outside type of item. This ability to be a blend in it's inside surroundings keeps it safe from theives. I noticed that any bikes (be it folder or conventional frame) that are kept outside-even locked-are at risk to be stolen or at least vandalized. Just check out the Bike Friday website and the British Folding Sociey website. That is why I turned to folders or separators. Nothing else works anymore.
