Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Happy Thanksgiving Foo!
Plans for today are up in the air for us - nothing planned to cook, no family here. Guess we'll go out to eat somewhere or fix a sammich here.
As for VV, I surmise that she went out for a ride after not riding for quite some time and found she'd lost a bit of fitness and felt like that if she wasn't able to ride like she thought she should then maybe she shouldn't be on BF or Foo anymore. Other than that, I havent a clue...
Really hope everything is OK with VV -- that was a cryptic post she made.
A happy Thanksgiving to all American Foosters, and a good day to the rest of you. I thought that this week was going to be eventful, but it's been even more so than I had anticipated, good and bad. Need to get some decent sleep in before tomorrow, so I'm off for now. It seems I always post in Whatcha Doin' just before bedtime. Take care, all.

That sounds like the onset of a depression. Hope she's all right. :(

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Currently sipping some coffee and trying to cook a still frozen turkey. It was in the fridge since monday and its still frozen...WTF? anyway, its almost thawed enough. Think I'll go for a ride after I get it completely thawed and get the removeable parts removed.
Wishing everyone a safe and fun holiday!

Got about 30 minutes before I get to cooking all the Thanksgiving day food. Hope everyone has a good day. There's always something to be thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving Foosters!

I've been cooking since 8:30 this morning. The gravy stock is made, the cornbread stuffing has been put together and blending and the turkey is drying on a rack in the fridge. I have a couple of hours before anything else needs to be done though my wife needs to get on the ball and make the sweet potato casserole. I'm hungry so maybe I'll rustle up a small lunch.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

getting ready for an 8:00 am group ride at my LBS. It's 35 degrees now, but should warm up to about 40ish by then.
I hope I'm not the only one to show up. Yesterday was the 1st day that it didn't get into the 70's
Sissies. :p

See now, that's what's great about the Bike Funnists (http://www.shift2bikes.org/) in Portland and some other cities. When you athletic cyclists are in your "pooped-out phase" (as I see everyone on this forum in at some point), there are still plenty of ways to have fun with your bikes. :)

So true Donna. So often we forget that riding a bike is all about having fun. No one here gets paid to ride a bike so we should all keep it in perspective. After all it is how we choose to spend our leisure time so why get stressed about it?

That's why I hardly ever ride with a computer on my bike. All the numbers tend to take away why I'm actually out there. I like to ride my bike. :)

Well, in some directions at least... :D
Happy thanksgiving everyone! I can smell thanksgiving dinner cooking and I'm getting quite hungry. I just wanted to stop by and say that I'm quite thankful to have you all in my life. Although I only know you in the cyber world I'm still thankful to have met you all.
Once again, happy thanksgiving everyone. :D

I rode all summer without any electronic stuff on the bike as I recovered from an injury. It was very enjoyable to just go out to ride however I felt that day. But other times I like to have the feedback along with my RPE to see where I am and to make sure I'm on the track to progress.
I've been thinking of building up a brevet bike. I think the Raleigh-Wilmington-Raleigh 600K is calling my name. Why not?

Exactly. I like knowing total milage thats about it. I find myself looking at nature and wildlife often. My fast rides I usally am just trucking along enjoying how good my legs feel. Thats about as scientific as I allow bike riding at this point. I have Garmin 305 sitting in the box used it twice and its info overkill for me. Though I will use a computer if I decide to make a new route.

That sounds like fun. Surly Crosscheck would be a good brevet bike and it does so much more.........you should buy one, come on its just 1 more bike;)

Actually, I think the BB is too high for a brevet bike. I'm looking at a Gunnar Sport. It has a longer wheelbase, lower BB, pretty long chainstays and decent HT length. It can handle wider tires and has fender attachments too.

That Gunnar Sport is a nice looking bike. The Geometry reinds me of my Raleigh Cadent. Very comfy but unfortunatly not steel like the Gunnar. I won`t try to twist your bike-buying-arm anymore you do just fine on your own:D.
BTW I am at work today. So I`ll prolly be posting a lot. I may even reply to my own posts. Maybe some Canadians will drop by Foo since its BAU for them today.

i wish i had bought a cross bike instead of the mtb. i saw a ton of cross bikes out yesterday while we were riding. maybe next fall i can get one. oh, but wait a sec....i was gonna get a fixie next year:). wonder if i could swing two bikes?

I guarantee you would use the cross bike more than a fixie. At least I think you would.

Too busy working to Foo.... And still one more day to go this week. Back to it.
Kickin around BikeForums, staying out of the way of my wife and her sister who have taken over their mother's kitchen for the day. Took a short ride this morning (15mi) to test out the bike I'm borrowing from BF'er Luwin. Damn it is a nice ride.

I test rode a Sworks Tarmac and thought it was a great bike. Enjoy your rides on it.

I have both a MB and a CX bike. The MB shines in tight technical terrain the CX is great for MUPs , dirt roads and smooth single track. I could not give up either bike.
I thought you got a Fuji FG bike this year, I rember a pic of it with a little ball under the pedal or something.
Am I mistaken?
Only 2 bikes in one year? Thats a good start;) I`m up to 5 and 2 frames. But 1 was free and 1 was $85 from ebay.

you are most likely correct. then what do i do with the mtb? guess i could sell it...or keep it:)
*edit* i did have a fixie, but it was a 54cm and really WAY too big for me. coincidentally, i got it the day before i did a longish ride back in may - rode it around the neighborhood a lot that evening, then got hurt the next day. dont know if the fixie had anything to do with the injury, but i decided to get rid of it after i put a brake on it and had a very sharp pain in the hurt knee when i rode it after the brake installation. heh. cross bike could be in my future...

If I could only own 1 bike it would be my CX bike. With the purchase of a set of road wheels and tweaking the gear ratios it would do 99% of the riding I do.

Killin' time waiting for the boyfriend to get in to town so we can do something before the pub. Maybe I'll get out the laptop and do some OpenGL since I've got ~40 minutes to kill. Hmm.
I think I'll just enjoy my tea and the nice fire we've got going.
Have I mentioned I love my office (hauntings and creepiness aside)?

Best thing about winter riding is warming up by the woodstove afterwords!
I love wood heat! Not so sure about creepy offices or OpenGl whateverthatis:p
