Foo - Whatcha doin'?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hey Foo!
We had a Chipolte Mexican Grill open up near us yesterday. Last night was free burrito night. :):):):):):):):)
I had plenty of fuel for the ride in this morning. :D
Chipolte is good, Freebird is better. Lobby for a Freebird's. Then finish it off with a Taco Cabana. That is if you have to have chains. If not, then just find a taco wagon or a good taqueria. Watch for were the Mexicans go and follow them.
anyway, congrats on your burrito.:D
Anyone know where I can upload a .wav file to share? I used my mp3 player to record my chemistry professor singing a song about Grignard Reagents in class today.
You should definitely go for the doughnuts. First off, they're better for you than bananas (look at Taerom!), and second, it's Friday, also known as Doughnut Day.
Bananas are awesome. But so are donuts. I'd say get both.

We also have Dos Amigos Burritos (http://www.dosamigosburritos.com/mission.htm) which is a local chain. Their stuff isn't necessarily traditional Southwest/Mexican, but it is very good!
And then there is Loco Coco's Tacos (http://www.locococos.com/index.php) just outside the gate here (10 minute walk). They're OK, but I prefer the Dos...and now Chipolte's.

Well, back to work. There aren't too many slaves here today, so we all have to row as hard as we can. :p
You should get them to put in pedal powered water wheels, like a paddle boat Rdad.

Nobody told me it was Doughnut Day!

...things are kinda dead here....I have two of my 4 employees off....my counterman shall soon be off to the doctors office.....and I'll be here alone....BWAHHHHHAHHHHHAAAAAA!!!!
I'm daydreaming expectantly awaiting the arrival of my new(to me) Waterford 1200..... :)
Nobody told me it was Doughnut Day!
Look at a calendar. If you can find the date (any date) on a calendar, it is doughnut day.:D
Cool! I will now go to the Y to work out, so I can buy doughnuts on the way back.

How can you throw the chain in a 50/13 gear just riding? Were you shifting when you did this or just pedaling?

So you were in the gear 50/13 riding very slow but the chain was well placed on the gears and when you started to put pressure on it fell off the chainring? Huh. It either wasn't on well to begin with or something is screwy.

Is it a new chainring? Is it bent?
wolfpack
12-07-07, 12:40 PM
yes. pedaling very slowly almost to point of standstill. 2 maybe 3 revolutions before it came off. something is screwy as it didn't do that before putting this PT wheel on. no problems with the AC wheel. dunno. maybe need to take to LBS on monday and have them adjust.

MV - dunno if chainring is bent. i can't see how it could be as i baby this bike and it has not been knocked over or anything. this also happened on a group ride a few weeks ago, tho i was starting to go dh and flipped up to the big ring and it just went right over it and off.

Sounds like the front der. needs adjustment. Might need to be lowered and the limit screw set correctly. But why it should jump off after settling on the gear is beyond me. Had you been riding in the 50/13 for a while or did you shift to it just before you wanted to do the stomp?

Sounds like the Fr DR is in need of adjusting then.

crossed an intersection in town and went about 1/8mi in 34/? and then went to 50/13. all 3 times.

So it came off as you shifted to the 50 chainring. Needs adjustment.
How old is your chain?

Maybe your chain just wants to be free!
The winter gunk I'm riding through sometimes fouls the rear der motion or pulley and causes the chain to come off, usually get suck though. Probably front der adjustment in balmy Carolina though.

i shifted to the big ring and it didn't shift off. it came off after i stomped on it, like after 2 maybe 3 revolutions.
chain has been on bike since april and has about 28-2900mi +/- on it. measured last weekend with tape measure and it's ~1/8" stretched.

You had better replace that chain. It is worn and may be part of the problem.

do you have all of your chainring bolts?
wow, didn't look far enough ahead to see 1/8". get a new chain pronto, you're in the area where you're doing unnecessary damage to your cogs&rings.
Well, that was ****ing lame. Today was opening day at our ski hill, and it is free if you brought a can of food to donate to the canned food drive. I have a season pass, so I didn't think I would need to donate anything. But apparently, you have to donate a can of food to use the lifts today, even if you have a season pass. I got in a few runs before some old guy with a gay-looking goatee kicked me out for not having the special pass you get from donating a can.
I thought about going home to get something to donate from my cupboard, but it was really busy, and I would've lost my parking spot. And the line for the lifts was super long because all the newbies and kids kept falling off and they had stop the lifts for them. I actually walked to the top of the hill, faster than people on the lifts.
Hopefully tomorrow won't be as busy, but it probably will. And I shouldn't have to donate a can of food to use the lifts. What kind of homeless, hungry person wants to eat ****ty canned food anyway?

I had a bowl of cereal a while ago, but now I'm hungry again. I might have to heat up a can of Dinty Moore beef stew. Wait, canned food is for homeless people...
