What exactly is the subject of the homework? Maybe I can explain something so that you can understand what's going on faster and get through the assignment faster? I'm afraid you're on your own for the rest, though.
I'm just sitting around, about to check on my reaction.
Check on your reaction? (tee hee) That sounds funny...... :D
I know... we chemists talk funny.
My reaction is going so slowly that it's a good thing. It would be nice if it were done so that I could deal with it and go home. It would suck for it to keep going and force me to stay around. It's okay if it's so slow that I might as well go home and check on it tomorrow morning. In this case, it does appear that slow. So I'm done for the day. :)
Still in my office, though, catching up on personal e-mail and forum surfing and what not. Why not... no high speed connection in my apartment, and my office is a pretty nice place.
lol i always wait till the last minute to read huck finn LOL and suprisingly I do pretty well on the quizzes:) whew 3 chapters tonight and 2 more tomorrow and im done with it.
haha jschen well its finding the answer which the book sometimes doesnt have will take a long time. Were talking about hydrogen bonding and surface tension oh and aqueous systems. I guess its pretty cool..:D
Pssst! (I work weekends, remember?) It's nice over in South Bay but over here in West County it's been icy on the cars and streets.
Psst, I ride during the week remember? do you get days off during the week?

Of course but you have school. Isn't the riding better in the morning?
Of course but you have school. Isn't the riding bette in the morning?
Im 18, have no school. I ride at about 11am.
Drafting an e-mail to my mom explaining why I don't think I should spend too much on a car. Mostly the practical reasons. I'll leave discussion of why I think if I get a nice car, I should buy it myself for a later discussion, but I hope to at least get expectations for what I'm getting to be on the same page first. I'm telling her why I'm setting a budget of $20K (a loose ballpark figure) and that I do not need or expect any financial help with the purchase, but will of course accept their help if they so choose.
I'd prefer to discuss this by phone, and my parents should be done working by now (and if not, soon), but then I'd probably just get passed to my dad (who is the one who really pushes for the big ticket purchases) and keep hearing about how it's okay to go ahead and just buy whatever I feel like.
Well im off to bed, night!
I thought you were off to bed 45 minutes ago!

Do you people think the type of car someone has corresponds to their personality or would that be too gross a generalization?
peregrine, in my opinion, there is a correlation. Especially as people spend more. On the low end, it's probably mostly about utility and value. But as one spends more, I think the choices do say something about one's personality. The correlation probably is not particularly strong, but if you look at what they buy over the years and how they option the cars, I think it would be very telling.
Consider as an example...
If I decide to stretch my budget a bit and relax my desire for four doors, I'm seriously considering looking at the Acura RSX Type S. I believe there's a comparably priced Buick, but it's not anywhere on my radar screen. That definitely says something about my personality and my preferences. (Just imagine if the reverse were true... it definitely would paint a very different image of me.)

Yes I see what you mean.
So, you're actually leaning towards a 2- or 3-door car? Personally, after spending considerable amount of time in the back of a 3-door Ford Escort ( a trip from Chicago to Orlando, FL), I wouldn't subject anyone to that kind of treatment :p
No, I'm leaning toward 4- or 5-door vehicles. The RSX is a lone exception. I'm currently favoring the Mazda 3, Acura RSX Type S, and Audi A3. Also being considered are the Honda Civic (not particularly excited about it, but kind of an obligatory one to test), Chevy Cobalt SS (a bit weary of Chevy), and Dodge SRT-4 (probably too old and unrefined a design, but very fast).
Anyway, sent off the e-mail to my mom, so it's time to start bundling up for my commute home.

Was that guy Hank Rearden really banned that many times? I didn't read through the whole thing but from what I've read he seems like the 'EURO' of road cycling... or am I completely off here?!

Not a clue about Hank Rearden, but from what I saw, the comparison isn't too off-base. :p Though EURO has some redeeming qualities. When not engaged in some shouting match, he is a very knowledgeable and highly analytical resource.

The rearden guy has been banned over 6 times. He started out on justsomeguy, then justsomeguy., then a few more just he added another period to the name. He then made some account names mocking me, and the latest was hank rearden. Everytime Ive pmed konarider and hes banned him. Kona has ip banned the guy and he still comes back, hes a bit of a loser. The guy basically makes accounts to come harass me lol.
Just here, half asleep in my chair at work, dreaming of my morning ride... (what ride!?... stupid work!)...

Jeez, I gotta pay to fatten you up? BTW, I'll pay the $5, but somebody better endo. If not, have someone jump out from behind a tree and stick a frame pump in someone's spokes. Two guys letting gravity do all the work isn't all that interesting. And there better not be any penises in the video other than the ones on the bikes.

Man, I get on my bike to ride a mere 3 miles to work, and look what I missed! :o
I'm at work now. Today will be a long day at work in terms of hours, but a short-ish day in terms of actual work. At 4 PM, I should be wrapping up lab work so that I can go pick up the prospective grad student I'm responsible for at the airport. My labmate is picking up another student on the same flight, so he'll do the driving since I'm without car. Then we entertain them at dinner, paid for by the institute beer, margaritas, and all. And then get them to the hotel and call it a night. What a tough job. :)

Ohhh soo difficult. :p
I've been listening to blink 182 all morning. Installing Windows 2003 server on a virtual pc and nearly had to reformat my computer last night. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything is going to continue working. I have a bunch of tiny projects and 2 large projects :( need to finish the small projects so i can get them out of the way. *sighs*

I love running virtual machines for certain things. Save the state of the virtual machine, do whatever with no repercussions outside of the virtual machine, or even in the virtual machine other than potentially losing anything done since the last saved state. :)

Gay Radio? Is it a dance music station? My barber used to go to gay bars in the 1970's to pick up women. Seems women would go there cuz the music was realy good and they wouldn't get hassled by a$$holes. So he had no competition and his choice to pick from. Smart guy.

Hmmmm. I clicked it. Kind of weird music right now. Not bad bad wierd, but weird. Almost sounds like Celine Dion. We'll see how long i can listen to this sine the Dance station wasn't any good.
Posts don't get drunk. People making posts, on the other hand... :D Recruiting is tough work. We wine and dine (okay, beer/margarita and fajita) them on Thursday night (grad students only), wine (usually pretty good wine, at that) and dine them on Friday night (grad students, post-docs, and faculty present), and hold a party (kegs and all) for them Saturday night (grad students only). All paid for by the graduate program in hopes of atttracting the prospective students. It's an "interview", but all interviewees are highly qualified, and they'd have to do something awfully stupid in order to not get it. One person about five years ago evidently told my professor (chairman of department) during his one on one interview that the molecules my professor was showing him on the laptop screen were really exciting by telling him "This is much better than the porn that I usually look at."  That person was rejected. :o
Have to stay coherent enough to call my parents tonight, though. They want to update me on the insurance scenario (from the sounds of it, sounds like the car will be written off by the insurance company). Maybe we'll discuss expectations for the next car, but probably not. My mom responded to my e-mail telling me that she'll talk with my dad about it and to give them a few days to think about it.

Jschen, did you know that some insurance campanies, when totaling out your car, will let you buy it back? It will have a salvaged title but you can buy it back for around $200 or so. If it is in decent condition, part it out, then donate the rest to the junkyard. Have your cake and eat it too.
I did that with a Trans Am I sold to my friend. He bought it back and I got it thinking I would rebuild it. But with a salvaged slip, it would be hard to resell. So we parted it out and since the car was really taken care of prior to the hit, we were able to make quite a bit of money on it. We were able to make over a few thousand on parts alone. And it really didn't take that long. About a week and a half. But it really hurt to strip it. :(

I saw DJ Tiesto on one of your windows. He's usually pretty good. If that's the Gay Station, it might be trance or ambient that's playing now.
